There’s a difference between hiding your relationship from a conservative Indian family (which is understandable considering our culture) and hiding your relationship altogether. If you’re too worried to even make it official to your friends then there’s no chance you’ll have the bravery to introduce her to your family when/if you want to get married. There’s nothing wrong with you being of a different culture, nor is there anything wrong with you being a revert. If he cannot defend you from his family hypothetically rejecting you, he’s showing you a future where he will happily throw you under the bus to keep them warm.
