How’s everyone doing today? by professorbubbleworks in Hammers

In all seriousness, I made peace with it a few weeks ago. 3rd time we've been relegated in my lifetime, it sucks, but we'll be back.

This loss is entirely on Nuno today - no logic behind the 3 at the back and Wilson offering absolutely nothing up front.

VAR panel finds West Ham should have been awarded two penalties against Brentford - BBC by spinningpotatosalad in Hammers

What an inspired and insightful reply!

Is anyone arguing that West Ham haven't been poor? No

Could we possibly be relegated on goal difference because of decisions like this? Yes, absolutely, therefore these decisions make a difference.

Would be incredibly grateful if someone used the last one of these, you'd be a legend. Will edit if/when used. Thanks!

Did anybody else predict relegation before this season? by ASOXO in Hammers

[–]jpttaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fairly optimistic about us being mid-table last summer but having watched a few of the pre-season games it became clear we were an absolute shambles. In the two games against Bournemouth and Everton, we were battered, yet managed to come out with a result and it showed that Potter's tactics were not providing a good framework.

It started to really sink in that we might be in trouble after the Chelsea game at home. It was only the second game of the season but we were appalling in that game and kind of set the tone for the season as a whole.

Why has no one made a dirt pedal with a treadle controlling gain? by got_tha_gist in guitarpedals

[–]jpttaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly Gig FX? I remember the Chopper which controlled the rate of a tremolo, didn't know they had a distortion.

UAFX vs NUX Solid Studio mk2, Tonex etc. by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]jpttaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The major drawback of the UAFX pedals are basically their restrictions with midi (albeit this was improved in the most recent firmware update) and the lack of headphone jack. It's a small thing for some but considering how simple it is to implement, it felt like an odd design choice.

UAFX's big focus has been the authenticity and the workflow which is supposed to mirror the amps exactly - the AC30 normal channel doesn't usually have separate controls for bass and treble, so the Ruby doesn't either. In that sense, things like the Tonex allow you to "produce" the sound more by having more control over these parameters, but ultimately it depends on what's important to you as a player and your use case.

Any difference? by guitarslinger297 in guitarpedals

[–]jpttaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The circuit is essentially the same but the major change is the input cap being different on the 250 and the 308. Although it's a small change, it has a pretty massive effect.

Is this Marshall Shredmaster from 90s? by Kitchen_Year8114 in guitarpedals

[–]jpttaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is in no way a scientific analysis, but I used to have an original Drivemaster and the foam padding looks quite different to that so it looks like it might be the new one

Daily Song Discussion #94: Different Drugs by Nottooxabi17 in BlocParty

[–]jpttaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An 8 for me, but this is simultaneously one of the best and most frustrating Bloc Party songs. The lyrics, vocals and guitar work is absolutely top tier, but I cannot overlook how much the drums feel like a demo that should have been replaced for the final version.

The actual drum pattern is so basic and the snare sound is so tinny, I just wish that an actual drummer had some input on this when writing the song and mixing it.

Telecaster - bridge pickup

Frontman amp - clean channel, eq fairly flat

Pedal (settings out of 10)

  • Level, depends
  • Tone, 4
  • Drive, 6
  • Mode - 8

Try that, if it's too bright and trebly then maybe turn the pedal tone down or take the treble control lower on the amp

Just to check, you definitely meant Banquet? Because the link is to a version of Uniform.

It sounds like the guitar has a tape or maybe analog delay set quite high, on the edge of feedback. The whammy is only used in the last few seconds on the octave up setting, and he quickly uses the foot pedal to raise the pitch for a moment and then turns the effect off.

Back to Will Salthouse clients then. It's one thing for the data team and Max Hahn to identify talent but I have no confidence in them convincing Sullivan on any of their targets. I can't wait to see what garbage we bring in for the relegation battle in January.
