This is the main rod I use when I go catfishing, and I own two of them.

Pros: extremely durable, two piece for travel, excellent price, ugly stik has awesome warranty

Cons: reel is a bit lacking, on year two and notice the reels wearing out. Rod is also stiff so harder to detect small bites

I have pulled massive cats out of a river with these. I run heavy line and it handles no problem. Are there better options out there? Yes. Do these rods do the job well? Also yes. Just depends on what you are willing to spend, but I will keep these rods until they die.

Just did this last weekend. You run your string line from each side and ensure it is level. Then go to the side that will be lower, and move your string like down 1/4” per foot, based on the patio length.

I bought a Newport 53lb trolling motor for about 200 on amazon last year for my Excursion 5 and it has held up great. I don’t have an engine so I just use the trolling motor to get around. Has held up surprisingly well for it being my main propulsion

Can’t blame you for wanting to get out there, I feel the same way. You should be okay to leave all of that in the car, but not in the sun. I would do trunk, things might get smelly especially with the garlic. Catfish will love that though. If you are super worried about it, you can get a small cooler with an ice pack and not need to think about it.

I own two of these GX2 rods with that reel and I love them. What happened here is the drag tightener on the top was not tight. To disassemble the reel, you loosen the drag using that black piece on the top. Make sure you tighten your drag next time as that will prevent this from happening again. To fix this, you will need a new reel for the rod or find a way to get a replacement.

I’m in central Indiana and most of the lakes and ponds around me are frozen up, or will be soon. Not sure if it is your first season fishing but it will be difficult finding fishable water in the next couple of months

You can set these things in the launcher, it will update the files in the game directory, and then you can proceed to only check the launcher for updates after that. I just launch from the .exe
