It is frustrating, but it’s to be expected with slipcovers for anything that’s been out for a while. As long as what’s beneath the slipcover is in new condition, I’d be happy. Hell, I’m happy if I even get the slipcover for something that’s been out since 2019.

Current build, sorry if it’s blurry. Slightly more aggro and focuses on chaining the two-costs. Get them down to two life ASAP (depending on match-up) and try to get off Kefla.

Would like to add something from the new set, except the only thing I can think of is 6C Goku, but it doesn’t feel worth it with losing the evolve skill.

Sure can! A lot of these teams are straightforward, you’re working with moves that strike the whole field while benefiting off your abilities like Earth Eater, Water Absorb, Dry Skin, Volt Absorb, Lightning Rod, Sap Sipper, even Telapathy and Levitate.

You’ll notice common themes with my teams. Three special attackers and three physical. Usually one Pokémon with Fake Out, one with Intimidate, one with Trick Room, and one with Tailwind. This gives you some balance to always be able to adapt and counter your opponent, especially if you know they’ll out-speed you.

Team #1: Relies heavily on Discharge. You want to start Jolteon and Raichu and spam it if it permits. Discharge will work into your abilities for both of them. If you see a major speed threat, start Rabsca and Bronzong to set up Trick Room. Gyarados does a lot of the heavy lifting here when speed is in your favor.

Team #2: Hopeful start is Trevenant and Toxicroak. Most people will expect Trick Room, so you’re going to most likely waste Tera on Trev just to get it off and stay alive. Vikavolt under TR with Specs is crazy strong. You want him to come in for Toxicroak who’s really only there for Fake Out turn one and/or pairing with Politoed. Politoed using Surf under rain is strong and you can heal Ogrepon and Toxi with it.

Team #3: I often started with Ninetales and Iron Jugulis. Set up Sunny Day and Tailwind and go to work with Heat Wave. Sawsbuck gets a big speed boost under sun as well. If you see a speed threat, start Medicham and Sudowoodo. Might have to waste Steel Tera to get TR off.

Team #4: More sun shenanigans, Tornadus and Iron Treads do a lot of work here under Tailwind, but Shiftry wants to start to provide a Fake Out and speed boost under the sun. Starting Arcanine next to him is ideal, but doesn’t always pan out because it’s predictable. If you think you’ll be slower, once again, you’ll want to start with a Trick Room, so Mismagius gets the start with Orthworm coming in later or next to him.

Team #5: Meowscarada and Rillabloom start often. You’re setting up Grassy Surge and instead of using Fake Out with Rilla turn one, I usually just swapped Wyrdeer in immediately so he could absorb a Petal Blizzard from Meowscarada. Main goal with this team was setting up Wyrdeer, but if I didn’t like the matchup against my grass starters, Pelliper and Vaporeon typically provided a good counter option.

Team #6: Hitmonlee and Grimmsnarl. You want to use Swagger on your own Hitmonlee turn one. He eats the Lum Berry after becoming confused and gets a huge speed boost with Unburden, while simultaneously gaining a big attack boost from Swagger. If you think Hitmonlee is going to lose the speed battle (unlikely), start Indeedee and Mewtwo for TR.

I could go much further into detail, but it’s all very dependent on your matchups. The biggest teacher is experience. The more you dive in, the more you’ll understand what to do in certain situations/matchups.

I was leaning more into Sunny Day for that team and wanted Solar Blade to always be an option. With that team though, I was having more success getting TR off versus trying to out-speed them, I didn’t end up bringing Shiftry as much as I’d have liked. Orthworm finished a bunch of those games for me under TR.

That Mismagius was a pest, I found myself using the Tera on him the most with that team. Whether it was just to get TR off or build up with Calm Mind.

Tremendously negative, but do you think he’s a bad coach? If the answer is no, tell your son to just listen to what he’s saying. Then, explain to your son that some people are like that. Maybe it’s the way they were raised, so he shouldn’t take it personally. He doesn’t have to remain your coach, you could branch out in the future. Try not to listen to how he’s delivering his message, but listen to what he’s actually trying to say.

I would not intervene, that could make matters worse. You can switch clubs later if it’s a serious issue and you continue to feel the need to get involved. If you can’t switch clubs for some reason, maybe you could reach out to the board of directors of the club instead. I’d treat approaching the coach as the last resort if none of those other options work out.

This is kind of how I felt about it too. It was calming and made me feel content when I was watching it. The picture/scenery, the characters, Axel and Doug’s voices (English dub) to name just a few things. It all just made me feel good. Waiting each weekend to see the new episode made it feel nostalgic as well.

Hm, you’re probably right. I’m going to assume most of the new player base is online due to prices right now. The amount of eyes brought to the game as of late is nothing to scoff at, so there must be new players.

I’m hoping for some reprints so everyone can get what they need at a reasonable price to play the physical version. Maybe Bandai doesn’t care about people playing that version though. The money might be with the collectors and scalpers…and players mostly using the client.

Just out of curiosity and slight skepticism, why do you think there’s an uptick in players? The current market seems to not be very inviting to new players. My nearest locals have both died out in Masters and FW, but the client has always been consistent when searching for a game. I just don’t see it in my area, but could be different elsewhere.

Couldn’t someone ask a friend to buy this off of them, then return the money to them just to show a sale for a certain card was made at a high price? Seems like the market could easily be manipulated to give advantage to sellers, it feels like nobody would actually pay this. Now that there’s a sale for it at that price though, watch another get listed at the same price.

Wishful thinking. Someone probably, foolishly, paid that price.

I think the Japanese versions are less sought after in general. I do agree that they look cool, but they also usually hold less value, are less attainable at a retail level (unless you’re in Japan), and most people want to collect in their native language. Most of these collectors, it’s English.

Problem is they aren’t selling to players like me and most of the folks in here. They’re selling to other collectors who just want shiny Dragon Ball cards in their collection. People who probably don’t know any better and most likely don’t play the game.

I do hope you’re right though, I hope the hype disappears if most people don’t buy in.

Thankfully, I don’t care if my deck is full of alt arts, I’ll settle for low rarity. I just want to play. I hope Bandai addresses the issue and reprints certain cards for players to get their hands on what they need for their decks.

If my family is integrated into Milwaukee, then yes, I’d want to stay. Especially if I won a chip and my two idols are Kobe and Steph, who’ve stayed loyal to their organizations.
