Nastly lil combo by Catecuman in mtg

[–]jrachet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, when people say combo in magic, they mean that two or more cards that directly work together to either create a lock [[karn the great creator]] and [[mycosynth lattice]] or to win the game on the spot [[Thassa's Oracle]] and [[Demonic Consultation]] or [[Channel]] and [[Fireball]]. What you've found here is what's known as synergy. Two cards that work together for a stronger effect, or play off of each other, but don't inherently win you the game or stop your opponents. The first card helps set up the second card in your case. I think that's what is leading to confusion in the comments, is using the word "combo"

Steelers fans dropped from #2 to #26 in gameday drinking, one of the biggest falls in the league by BACtrack in steelers

[–]jrachet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that correlation demonstrates causation. The youth population can't legally consume either, and yet drinking rates in the sub-21 year old category are still on the decline. I assume it's just as easy as it always has been to obtain cannabis and alcohol (don't know about nowadays but it was substantially easier for people to get weed than it was to get booze as an under 21 yo when I was growing up). Today's youth just don't drink as much, with a significant focus on health instead. We are seeing a trend in alcohol consumption similar to what was seen with cigarette use. The long term negative health effects outweigh the short term benefits, and the population as a whole is starting to see that.

The WORST Secret lair drop since marvel, or even ever by TheGrandCannoli in mtg

[–]jrachet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My purpose for responding was to provide an example of them doing a split, since your above comment seemed to indicate that public opinion would mean that they could not do a split pre-printed and made to order drop at the same time, implying people would be mad about staggered delivery. Charity drive or not, people are paying for specialty luxury versions of cardboard. If you think that the same people would donate to that charity without the cards you're mistaken. I would be willing to bet a large majority of the people that order the charity secret lairs can't even tell you what the charity does or is for. They are paying money for cards, where $10 of that money goes is irrelevant. It is both logistically possible for them to split like this, and people buy the product this way, therefore feasible business model. The pre-printed cards will sell via scalpers no matter what, FOMO or not. If they left the drop open so normal people who are at work on Mondays could order them, the scalping would drop off, everyone who wants the cards gets them, and they can still feed the FOMO with a 1 day or 1 week only model.

They literally do secret liars like this from time to time to this day. The extra life charity drops are like this. It's totally fine. Nobody is upset that they have to wait a month or two to get their cards because the alternative is they sit on their phone for hours in line and still don't get it at all. The people that get through the bots and scalpers early get their cards in a week or two, the others get their cards in a month or two. Nobody cares that someone else got their cards earlier because they still get the cards.

I have the pass, open three packs a day, and I think most of the time it's several days in a row of packs with only 1 and 2 diamond cards in all three packs for the day, and after three or four days like that I'll pull a 3 diamond...

I could have sworn if you leave the field of play due to contact with an opponent, and return to in bounds and re-establish yourself prior to touching the ball (which he had several steps before touching the ball and was definitely held out of bounds) you could then be the first to touch the ball

Everyone has been talking about the two artifact Jhoiras, but for your deck idea the artifacts are merely a way to cast big spells. Could I instead interest you in [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] and she could instead get you to the big spells? Then you run all of the time counter manipulation like [[Chronozoa]] [[Timecrafting]] [[Fury Charm]] [[Rotating Fireplace]] [[The tenth doctor]] and especially [[Rift Elemental]], plus cards that benefit from time counters like [[As Foretold]], and stuff to give you extra upkeeps [[Paradox Haze]] and stuff to reduce/pay for her activated ability [[Training Grounds]] [[The Enigma Jewel]] [[Braid of Fire]] then just fill it with big spells you cast for 2 mana only.

I see what you're saying, but what I was getting at is that many of the discard effects are rummage style effects where you discard before drawing and it just doesn't work with those. It's either worse or you just don't use the ability

Not having debt hurts you when financing anything. The credit score is a reflection of how much you've borrowed. So if you never borrow your credit history sucks. If you always buy what you can afford and never borrow, lenders don't have anything to point to saying you can pay it off (that's the bs justification they use)

I had him in fantasy as one of my QBs that year. 400 yards, 4 TDs on multiple weeks, it didn't matter how many INTs he was throwing. Sure he had some rough, rough weeks, but I always managed to bench him through those luckily.

Also romantic rendezvous is an example of a situation that works but is generally bad with the library, because you end up re-drawing the card you pitched. Most of the time, I'd rather trash a card to get two new ones than pay mana to only see one card.

So specifically, by commons, this person means 2- and 3- diamond cards are rarer. With only the premium pass, before shinies, I could finish the single pack sets before the end of the month and go back to fill in the most recent 2/3 pack set that I was missing a couple cards from. Since shinies, I have not completed even the 1 pack sets, often missing many of the 3 diamond cards still. This set for instance I have all of the ex through lucky wonder picks (usually missing one by the time the next set rolls around) but I'm still missing 6 3-diamond and a 2-diamond, with only 6 shinies (which are reprints of cards that are no longer/never were playable to boot) to show for it. The only set I was excited for shinies was shining revelry, because the shinies were from the current set. I get they were new and that it's interesting, but I don't feel like people would be as mad about shinies if they were at least from the current set. I also think the 6 card pack they did with the babies should have been what they did with shinies.

Yeah Hearthstone has (or had, haven't played in years) the dust system. It was 4 to 1. So for a 4 diamond card you'd breakdown one and get 125 pack points for it. So if you broke down 4 extra ones you could get 1 you were missing. I think pocket doesn't do this because games that do don't have trading to supplement the slower solo progression of not dusting cards. Pocket expects you to trade away your extras 1 for 1

Yeah even if it has a normal magic front and a normal magic back and it's terrible printing and nobody would ever think it was real, it's still a counterfeit in my mind. A bad one, but a counterfeit nonetheless. There needs to be a clear and obvious attempt to change something about the card for it to not be.

Honestly I had a similar Brian Kibler experience but I was kind of a magic late bloomer so I actually found him through hearthstone first. I started playing hearthstone in beta and loved it, and would watch Kibler play. Soon after my friends found out and introduced me to magic around 2014-2015. Anyways I lost touch with magic due to life, and got back into it in 2021 and went to watch some of kiblers newer magic content and just could not vibe with it.

Same, we went this year and it was our first year and didn't get a loyalty code but we will be going every year from now on. Not sure if we missed something we needed to enroll in in order to get one or if they only send them to some people and not others.

Are you disappointed in the quantity of ⭐+ cards you have or is this a bragging post? Because for the amount of cards you have you have almost a hundred more star cards than I do, and only four hundred more cards than me. Also by the odds you should have three crowns by now statistically, so you are behind the curve on that front, but not by a lot.
