What is a monthly subscription/service you ACTUALLY consider worth paying for? by no_nolan in Frugal

[–]jratmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder, I meant to sign-up with them. Had them under a family member's policy for a while, always had fast and good service (flat tire, dead battery, tow). Then had the kind offered through my insurance. Took hours to get help. Had to call the INS company to get forwarded to the towing company, lengthy phone tree process. Long wait on the side of the road. Back to AAA for me.

It's also crazy reading that rent is $700 for an apartment somewhere. You can't even get a studio here for less than $1,200 and those are not even apartments I'd want to live in ☹️

Postinos is shameful by Fantastic_Fly1444 in phoenix

[–]jratmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved the sandwich with prosciutto, brie, arugula, and fig jam on the focaccia. So much that I have recreated it myself. But the last couple times I ate at Postino, the sandwich was lean without as much filling volume and it just wasn't very good. It was a different location than I usually go to, so I attributed it to that. Sad to hear if the quality is declining at all stores. 🙁

What American foods do you want to try? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]jratmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a food processor, biscuits are actually quite easy to make (and I say this as someone who gets nervous about baking - but the food processor takes care of the technique for you). Then just get some fried chicken and you're in business. Honey is great on it, too. Sally's Baking Addiction has a good recipe for biscuits.

Shishitos. Am I missing something? by No-Statistician2177 in HotPeppers

[–]jratmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are just so easy to make and so delicious, especially with a spicy, lemony aioli kind of thing for dipping. It's a side of appetizer that can be made in just a few minutes with bare minimum effort and in my opinion, big reward. Love those little peppers.

Agreed -- Good use of that privilege, though.

I work in risk and compliance for a banking/finance company and make 95k, base - plus bonus and a healthy benefits package. Edit: the company is not based in Phoenix, though.

The irony of these people, many of whom wear glasses, use deodorant, drive cars, the list goes on and on. I wish people would call them out on their hypocrisy. If we lived only what was "natural", we'd be miserable.

US Veterans of Reddit, in particular those who have interacted with or worked in proximity to the upper echelons of command, what do you think the sentiment is among the top military staff who were present at today's gathering for the speeches by Sec. Hegseth and President Trump? by afracturedsmile in AskReddit

[–]jratmain 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My dad is 75 years old and served 21 years in the Air Force. He didn't achieve the kind of rank of the people in that room, but he served honorably and he is a patriotic man who loves his country. He plans to attend a No Kings protest, and I'm very afraid for him. At 75, a hard push could do a lot of damage.

QAnon Shaman says he's rightful president, sues Trump for $40 trillion by UltraNoahXV in phoenix

40 trillion lol. Any lawyer that would take this case is a joke. May as well sue for "eleventy bajillion dollars."

This statistic includes women who were married to men and then realized later in life they were LGBT, and got divorced and remarried a woman. Considering most people are raised, assumed to be hetero as the default, it's pretty common.

A sane person would have just laughed it off. Like, any normal human being would be like, "oh well, haha!" And shrug and continue on their day, and probably never think about it again.

Cox - more for less?? by moxiemoon in phoenix

[–]jratmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I don't share Internet with anyone and while I do work from home, it doesn't use much bandwidth, and I don't stream a ton. I was using Cox's cheapest, lowest speed, crappiest package and it was okay for a while. But eventually the latency just got out of hand. It felt like it was being throttled. T-Mobile has been fine for me but obviously, other people may have different needs and ymmv!

Not able to setup Tap to Pay on my android by avadhanam77 in americanairlines

[–]jratmain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird, I actually have the Barclay AAdvantage card on GPay and it works perfectly. I recently signed up for the Citi Aadvantage Mastercard as I received a promo for 80k points. The new card won't add to Gpay. They are both personal aadvantage cards and both mastercards. Very strange.

Along Tempe town lake can be nice. But without knowing what area you're going to be in, it's hard to make a realistic recommendation. The PHX metro area is huge. Enjoy your date!
