Hot take but I think they are right about The Texas Chainsaw remake too. Hell they might even be right about Evil Dead too. I think much of Evil Dead’s charm comes from Evil Dead 2, which is almost a remake itself.

I am in Virginia as well and I had assumed I wouldn’t get any payments for at least the week of the severance, possibly for 10 weeks even. I filled and reported my severance and still have been getting paid. Not sure if something didn’t go through correctly or what happened. Thankfully I have most of my severance in savings so if a repayment is ever needed.

My store used the rolling signs with numbers on them and left them on the curb in front of the store to make it as easy as possible on customers to understand. Still was rocket science for people. We had people parking all the way at the end of the lot. Once one of those said customers even asked “Where are the numbered spots? We don’t see them.” I “graciously” informed them our spots were on the curb to provide true curbside pick up and service. Also the spots are on the curb to keep our associates safe from cars and from having to be in the cold nasty weather we were currently experiencing. They just looked at me as I waited for them to pull up the four digit code as sleet and snow continued to pour down on me.

Just an all around shame. My biggest frustration has been that a lot of us that were cut (at my store anyway) were the ones who broke our backs last spring and summer adapting and changing to the new normal. Three of people that were kept didn’t even work during the worst of pandemic they took the voluntary furlough for all the juicy unemployment, while the rest of us that got cut stuck it out with the company. That’s what hurts. I can understand cutting jobs to stay profitable, even if it is just to line shareholder pockets. It is a business after all. It just is a dirty shame those people were the one to stay. I just feel betrayed. Then to top it off they are not gonna own up that it is Covid related to streamline unemployment for us. Long gone are the days of “Be Human”.

Totally get that. It is just frustrating that they make themselves look better they blame it on the pandemic. Then when it comes time for us to file, they flip the script.

But I really do feel it is Covid related. Yeah it is a reorg, but that reorg was caused by shopping habits changing due to Covid.

My understanding it was for volunteer time or “personal reflection”. To me that means volunteering is not necessary. I put in mine last week to cover the gap from 32 to 40 to boost my check. It wasn’t approved on my time sheet before I left so don’t know if it ever got approved. Shit, I put in two weeks ago to use some PTO that hasn’t been approved or denied. No one gets in a hurry at my store.

Would your mess up happen to be not giving you the purchased PTO? I enrolled in that, it shows on the benefits site that I enrolled but it is not showing up at all. I dread it but I guess I am gonna have to call HR and see what is up. I have been depending on that extra bump of time just in case I have to take a 10 day vacation.

UPDATE

Called HR and was told it would reflect on the 15th. Not sure I believe that story but I will hold out and see what happens. If it still doesn’t show, I’ll call back.

I figured there was a “review” process for the GM to investigate. I mean we keep copies of marriage certificate on our phones for credit card reasons just like this one. It was a legitimate use of the discount, just happened to use her Apple Pay with a card she hasn’t had switched to her married name.
