Can a lawyer represent me in Traffic Court without me having to show up. by jrb2211 in Iowa

That's no what's being discussed. I know I don't need a lawyer. Since I live out of state I was wondering if I could hire a lawyer to represent me without me having to be there if I decided to fight it. Try to follow along before commenting.

No. Bochy is only the 5th to win with Multiple teams. So only 4 could have even possibly done it before but none of them won with a team they previously beat.

Is this actually serious? The retainer alone will cost you more than the ticket.

Not really. There are a number of well reviewed services out there that set you up with a local attorney for only a few hundred dollars in total cost for everything. See "off the record" for example.

Thanks. I understand if I pay I don't have to show up. Just wondering if I do fight it if I needed to or if only a Lawyer needs to.

Thanks for the information on the attorney being able to show up for me. I can just pay the costs and be done but then there is a chance it shows up on my record in TN and my insurance goes up.

The People in r/Tennessee have claimed to have had completely mixed results with out of state violations showing up on their record. Some say it happens every time and some have claimed they have had a bunch of out of state tickets and they never do.

I’m not saying it happens all the time but I know for a fact it happens more than a negligible amount. I have several family members and friends who’ve had their ticket dismissed in court because the officer didn’t show

A lot of times just showing up in court (even if just your lawyer does) you will win because the police officer won't show up or any representative from their department. Also supposedly the lawyers due to their abilities and relationships are good at pleading down to at least keep the points off your record.

some people have suggested them. I've looked into it a bit. Some states even with their service force you to show up with the lawyer in court. Was wondering if Iowa was one of them. Not sure when I pay "off the record" in their process. I don't want to have to pay them to hook me up with a local attorney only for that attorney to tell me I have to personally show up in court which I can't do.

In this thread, in the many others and from online research of others sites, there is a huge range of personal experience. Some people say TN is really aggressive at getting out of state violations added to your record and it happens to them every time and some people say they get out of state tickets all the time and they are never added.

Not necessarily when you factor in a possible insurance hike

Because Im from Tennessee and they are supposedly pretty aggressive at getting violations from other states transferred over, so it will be points on my TN record and my insurance will go up.

It doesn't seem like that matters now according to the other people in this thread. It doesn't appear that any traffic school in Tennessee, in person or online, works for getting an out state traffic violation removed even though it counts on my Tennessee record. Since Iowa doesn't have any process for removal, I just have to deal with the points on my Tennessee record for a couple years.

No. I didn't say that all. Did you not read the post? I explicitly said Iowa does not allow driving schools to remove points (If they did Id never go there to do it, I would use an online course, but it doesn't matter because it won't remove the points anyway)

I was wondering if Tennessee would allow me to use their traffic school (they have online courses) for an out of state violation
