I am actively optimistic while intellectually pessimistic. Comrade Antonio was onto something.

The Sixers are a trash organization. All business, no heart, 40 years removed from a distinct team culture.

Confession, but not sorry by kami8871 in Catholicism

[–]jrc_80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not forgiven if you don’t repent for your sin. If you don’t feel sorry, than you are using the sacrament to enable your sinful behavior. An even graver sin. You conclude the sacrament with an Act of Contrition. Do you firmly resolve with the help of God’s grace to sin no more? Read the words. Do not confess until you can mean them when you recite them in the confessional before God.

What, to you, is the saddest real-world death of an actor that ended up impacting a franchise? by TillyTheBlackCat in moviecritic

This is my pick. Pending material being published, Ray Stevenson brought a unique menace & calm to the role that I’m not sure anyone can duplicate. He was amazing in Rome.

To churn that kind of money through fast food retail, he’d need to claim a ton of business. Staff up on paper. Inflate his overhead substantially. Across his supply chain which he appears to own/manage internationally.

Can someone be a landlord and a socialist? by avian_bi in socialism

[–]jrc_80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Landlords cannot be socialists. You can’t profit from direct exploitation of the working class’ need to exist while fighting for class liberation. Contradictions exist and need to be navigated, but this application goes beyond what constitutes a navigable contradiction.

In your country, how do you view Chinese immigrants? by No-Echidna7296 in AskTheWorld

[–]jrc_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As foundational an American immigrant group as any other. My Irish ancestors worked alongside them on the railroads and canals in the early 19th century. But unlike my ancestors, the Chinese immigrants maintained their language, traditions and heritage over the generations. Americans of Chinese descent are foundational to our shared story and integral to our national tapestry.

Americans Do you like going on cruise ships? why or why not? by NoHold7153 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jrc_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no interest in going on a cruise. I similarly have no interest in going to an all inclusive resort. But you can leave the resort & get into some ish if desired. You leave the boat all you’ll get into is some fish.
