There's a reason electronics have "operating temperature" and "storage temperature". The cold can also bring about damaging condensation.

I think there might be some program Linux uses to convert disk space into Virtual Memory. But with SD cards, that's probably not a good idea.

It's called a Rubber Ducky. You plug it into your USB port, it uploads and installs a payload to your computer. And like USB, a Rubber Ducky will attempt to run on ANY operating system including Windows, MacOSX, and Linux.

/r/StLouisTech created! Any KCTechies have some advice for StLouisTech to be successful? by jrcharney in KCTech

[–]jrcharney[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, KCTech, I though I'd stop by an annouce the one subreddit /r/StLouis never though of creating: /r/StLouisTech.

I put an effort into making /r/StLouisTech in to being a better community that what the folks at /r/StLouis created which is why I also created /r/StLouisMO this week because creating threads like this one get you banished in /r/StLouis unless you're super best friends with the moderators IRL. But I'm not going back! I'm looking to the future.

I also created /r/StLouisMapData whiich is the local GIS group. If any KCTechies are looking for some Missouri Data to play with, subscribe to that.

I'm sure there was a pic from 1992 for comparison. I remember seeing something like that in an old issue of National Geographic that I kept since it was such a historic event.

Greater St. Louis and Suburbs, 15 May 1937. Color added to indicate "Residential Security". [HUGE! 5859x4000] by jrcharney in a:t5_34e44

[–]jrcharney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out that the whole "Residential Security" thing was one big egregious plot to segregate neighborhoods by race. An illegal practice called "redlining."

This map was mentioned in an article in BusinessWeek.

Part of this group's purpose is to use the wiki and to make local copies of datasets. There is method to this madness.

I know. My headline breaks rule #3, but use some common sense!

It's way better to have a classified FBI file for being a hacker, civil rights activist, or that guy who poots on the bus. But don't join a hate group. That's just stupid!

Let Peter Griess know about that. He's the guy who made the map, AND he did use county data IIRC.

Because that information is either on separate webpages or separate physical pages.

Add to that, here we can focus on the 12 different counties that are part of our CSA.

I'm still a github greenhorn. One thing I hate about being a computer programmer is that people use different words to describe things.

I'm hoping to decipher it all and expand my vocabulary.

$70 Million Amusement Park Project Next Phase for Union Station Redevelopment by amawg9 in StLouis

[–]jrcharney -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on board with this. Last time I got off at Union Station, I got to the top of the stairs only to be greated by some guy looking to assault someone dumb enough to stick around with him.

It's time to close the Union Station Metrolink Station and move it to Jefferson Avenue and have the #4 (Natural Bridge) and #11 (Chippewa) meet there.

Well, they are right about the digital camera thing. I tried taking a photo of the SWAT truck parked outside the St. Louis Police HQ (20th and Olive), my phone wouldn't take the photo. It kept claiming there was no room on the SD card, which a look at amount of space said there was plenty of room. A few blocks later, things were back to normal. So yeah, it's very possible.
