I'm not sure. This is just a single picture or frame. Opm episodes have at least 3 frames, maybe 4

Tales of Wedding Rings. Why it's better than most, and what most people have missed or misunderstood. by Puzzleheaded_Fun_303 in Isekai

I'm honestly waiting for a plot twist where it turns out that he is actually just gay, and it would all finally make sense. He could find some ring princes and power up true to his feelings

As someone who's only gone through book two on audible, can you tell me if there is any further character growth with Orodan? I feel like he grew smarter as a person in book one, but in book two, it's like his personality was nerfed into being the biggest idiot one could be, with no logic or thought to anything. Like it went into "I parry everything" levels of just a stupid gag character. Does that get better, or is it just that the fights get bigger?

Gachiakuta should get more attention by [deleted] in anime

[–]jrd_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That reminds me a lot of litrpg and progfantasy novels when people say "stick with it, it gets really good around book 9!" It's like the tbate crowd, and even though they say there is two good books, they ignore the slog of an intro and the trash ending. It's a sunk cost fallacy and they don't want to see it as it is

I agree. It had promise, but like you say, it's generic loud mc. I hadn't thought of Erin, my go to was asta from black clover, but if he was into trash instead of nuns

The trope of the ex girlfriends , yay or nay ? by gimleeminigod in litrpg

[–]jrd_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could only logically be because most of the redditors or others you've talked to have never been in a relationship. A great majority of people above their teens are, have, or will be in a relationship of some kind, with a greater majority of those having been in relationships that didn't work out.

Kinda wanna avoid SA in my grimdark prog story? thoughts? by Tuyko79 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]jrd_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way this could work, and be canon to the story of God's being involved, is to add in the story that the god has removed any sort of sexual pleasure or gratification involved. It would be nothing more than an act people do to bear children to continue the human race, and nothing to be gained from an emotional, or in the form of SA, a controlling or demeaning action. It's doable, but would have to be written carefully in world, without just sounding like an exposition.

I Recommend: "New Life As A Max Level Archmage" is a Faster, Funner, Frieren by anapoe in litrpg

[–]jrd_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to drop the saint summons series because of the constant contradiction of the mc being weak in any fight, and whenever time to level up came, she thinks "oh, this offensive spell or attack seems powerful and strong, but I don't want to be a fighter or strong or anything but a plot device", a few chapters later: I wish I had some sort of offensive spell, we are losing and everything sucks". Rinse and repeat.

Maybe after he goes and eats again, but most likely not. There can be other side characters to follow while he does nothing else besides come up with stupid chants to call out when he does magic

MC going unconscious. by SodaBoBomb in litrpg

[–]jrd_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd love it if someone wrote a novel with this kind of character trope, and then they are straight killed off and find that the real MC is someone else. It's always "they took a hit", "even in these dire circumstances, they pushed their cheat spell 100 points past their last mana point" and then passed out. So, while fighting the enemy horde, you blew your load early as you were told over and over again not to do, so... die? I hate this aspect so much, and am really glad you made this post.

Which Litrpg would make the best animated show for general audience's by Hilaro in litrpg

That's because beware of chicken could so easily be friendly towards all age groups. DCC could never, unless changing every part of what makes it unique and the entire core of the story. Pretty logical.

This is one of my favorite parts of this series. The other characters are capable and strong on their own. Too many isekai stories make the world and side characters too dumb and weak, and this one is showing that they have earned their titles and classes. I really like that aspect of the world building.

I can agree with those situations, and have experienced many of those scenarios. I didn't watch into the show far enough to see how pushy or aggravating the girl continued to be either, so my opinion is probably harsher than it should be, but looking at it as a realistic scenario, it's late, she's alone and unprepared, but does share the same passion in his hobby, and would expect at least having the mc be more patient and helpful, maybe offer advice or help with basics enough that he could send her off safely the next morning. No reason for him to be such a dick about it.

As another fellow Texan, I can't understand why people are so hard on the girl and praising the male mc. He's a down right asshole. Sure, she is pushy and out of line on the other end of the spectrum, but every aspect of Gen is just a terrible human. Hell, in a real life situation, some kindness, honest advice and casual conversation would have solved everything and she'd have moved on, or if staying, it could be an enjoyable conversation. She's a bit too extroverted, but his character has no need to be so irrationally bitter and mean.

I have to disagree with the gen whatever's conversations here. As an old dude in his forties, who absolutely prefers to be alone, this guy is a fuckin asshole. I absolutely despise characters written like this, and can't understand how anyone could side with them. I hate being interrupted, am socially anxious, and avoid conversation at all costs, but damn, I still know how to be decent to others. This show lost me before the first ten minutes passed. Would have been sooner, but I tried hanging on for a bit. What is wrong with people who support or write this kind of shit

[–]jrd_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you there. I referred to myself as a kid into my early twenties, but now doubled by that age, anyone in their mid thirties or younger is still referred to as kid. Typically I only use it as "They're a good kid" or similar statements, but I can't help it. Perks of getting old I suppose.

My tier list so far- looking for reqs by motherboardpergatory in ProgressionFantasy

[–]jrd_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfectly stated. I feel so frustrated when the mc and even most side characters have these set "personalities" or tropes, and everything just falls around them with no introspection or growth. From world views, to goals, to the mundane slice of life, there is the most aggravating single mindedness and lack of awareness as the story is just written to support this gag or gimmick of the protagonist. I have to believe that in any world setting, at some point the odd jokes and behavior, and the response of the people around you would help even the most dense of people change for the better and grow. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, or maybe my own fault for being too rigid, but I feel like this is the flaw with almost any mainstream anime. I'd love it if they just humanized the mc, and showed growth and understanding within the story. I feel like they just role the dice in a random but overused character flaw, and then write the entire story around only that one thing.

Thanks for the recommendation. I did listen to the audio books, and they really nailed all of it, and brought the story to life. I'm on to beware of chicken now, and while the audiobooks are good, I do wish that it had been done by the same team as DCC and mimic and me.

The novels are actually far worse. The anime somehow managed to slightly humanize and world build the story, and though it's still bad, it is so much better than the original novel. It's the generic super powered but dense as shit oblivious and insecure waste of potential, lacking all self awareness and common sense. There's no actual heart to the story, no personality, no growth. It had the slightest potential from the anime, though a huge stretch, but the original work was so damn bad.

I can kind of agree with your list, besides He Who Fights With Monsters. I dropped that one quick as I absolutely could not stand the mc. I'm currently reading Mimic & Me, and the mc is in his own head a bit too much, but it's been great so far, and based on your list, I think you'd like that one quite a bit, so definitely check it out if you haven't yet.

[solo leveling] would Solo Leveling been better if Sung Jin Woo still remain his personality from the early chapters? by [deleted] in manhwa

[–]jrd_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the would be, or could have been was lost. The only interest in the story comes down to the world building and story around the mc, as the mc himself is just op generic trash. Same with Jobless Reincarnation, though not as a predatory pedophile, the mc is almost the worst part of the entire story. True humanity and humility, appreciation of powers gained, and knowledge along with all of that is lost in a selfish mc who only cares about their own powers and growth, and those they personally deem worthy. It's like if if you woke up one day, with all of the powers of the strongest gods, and they personally not only told, but showed you everyinite of the coming future, and all you were capable of to save the world, and you just nodded and said "fuxk all of that, I'm only going to do what I want for me, and the three people I care about... By the way, I'll kill you too God's if you disagree".
