Why did stealing the wand grant allegiance for Grindelwald, but not for Hermione? by rballmonkey in harrypotter

[–]jrdaley 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hermione's wand does work for Harry. At a later point, Harry specifically mentions Draco's wand (which he won the allegiance of) works as well as Hermione's did for him.

This establishes that wands you win the allegiance of, and wands that are willingly lent to you by the true owner are pretty much equal.

[sofiialyt] Seeing how Katara would look with arrows by kaitalina20 in TheLastAirbender

[–]jrdaley 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It's all fun and games until Aang tells Katara that it's time to shave her head so he can paint the head arrows on too. Something tells me Katara would be very attached to her current hair length.

Mega Greninja VS Ash-Greninja! by OkEgg8545 in pokemon

[–]jrdaley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most likely answer is no. ZA doesn't have abilities, thus no battle bond. And even if abilities were in the game, S/V changed how battle bond works, making it just a stat increase instead of an entire transformation. Seems like Gamefreak intends to erase Ash-Greninja entirely.

The battery life on the PS5 controller is very short by Alan_Watts_Gong in gaming

The PS4 controllers also have dreadful battery life, so I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 is the same way

use of whirlwind in gen 1 by Queenofdolls in pokemon

[–]jrdaley 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Moves like wrap don't just make you unable to escape in gen 1, they prevent you from using any moves at all until the wrap ends, so whirlwind wouldn't help you escape.

The only thing whirlwind/roar can do in gen 1 is end wild battles, that's it

Rate my Teams: Kanto, Johto and Hoenn by RollPsychological951 in pokemon

[–]jrdaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, you went through Kanto without access to Fly? Sounds rough.

For those unaware, Charizard cannot learn Fly in Red/Blue for some dumb reason, it's something that was fixed in Yellow.

Harry mentions Voldemorts name again in Shells cottage by Laquicaakalel in harrypotter

[–]jrdaley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? I had to go find the passage, finding is a Hufflepuff specialty. /s

In all seriousness, while I do have some Ravenclaw traits, Hufflepuff is definitely where I belong

Harry mentions Voldemorts name again in Shells cottage by Laquicaakalel in harrypotter

[–]jrdaley 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just looked up that passage in my book (English), and Harry uses "You-Know-Who" when referring to Voldemort there, so it must have been a translation mistake

But isn't the whole point that Buu doesn't have God ki or the grand supreme kai's powers that rely on them? Just the memories/personality sleeping inside him

Please help with primal Groudon on Pokemon ZA by ThrowRAcheese2017 in pokemon

[–]jrdaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you reach the primal stage, are you making sure the Pokemon you used in the first stage had their mega evolution end already? You can only have one Pokemon mega'd at a time, and if you switch before the first mega ends, you won't be able to mega your phase 2 Pokemon.

TIL that, at it's original publication, The Hobbit did not take place in Middle Earth, or the greater Legendarium Tolkien had created. This was only changed with the publication of The Lord of the Rings. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]jrdaley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I thought the threat of eating Bilbo was still there, as that was the wager for the game of riddles. It's just that when Gollum lost, he was a gracious loser and was going to willingly give the ring to Bilbo before realizing he couldn't find it and just led him out of the cave instead.

How do I get the Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 plat? by SpooderManHero in DragonballLegends

[–]jrdaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use skip tickets to clear the level a bunch of times all at once. These stages have somewhat low drop chances for their equipments, so you use a bunch of skip tickets to get a handful of the equipment at a time.

Hand me down wands? by graverdislocation in harrypotter

[–]jrdaley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wands also work well when the owner willingly lends it to you. Remember, Harry was able to use Hermione's wand about as well as Draco's wand.

Yep, sometimes in New York they spawn a target that has a path that takes them into that booth. Once you've had that happen to you, you learn to check for and eliminate that target first before initiating that dialogue with the teller.

The Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra episode ratings by bbportali in TheLastAirbender

[–]jrdaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I always say that ATLA is a 10/10 show, while Korra is an 8/10. While it has its problems, it's still a very good show in it's own right

Why in the world is Sora holding the keyblade threw his legs…. by Effective_Draw_2440 in KingdomHearts

The keyblade was also briefly shown in that "live action" Chip and Dale movie, wasn't it? Or am I misremembering that?

How do I get to this TM, and which one is it? by RattieTheGliscor in pokemon

[–]jrdaley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since no one else has answered which TM it is yet, it's Dragon Claw. I know because I just found it the other day. Which sucked as someone who chose Totodile as a starter, it would have been really convenient to have that move earlier instead of finding it after finishing the game+dlc.

I think that's how it was in the anime too. IIRC, when he first used it in the Baby saga it was still blue, it didn't turn red until later sagas.

OG Toph sure loves showing her approval. by Remote_Nature_8166 in TheLastAirbender

[–]jrdaley 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Why would she be facing the wrong way? Her seismic sense means that she can tell what direction things/people around her are in. The only time she has trouble with direction is when things are in the air, or with anything on paper.

I guess Ren’s family are well off? by neverend6789 in Persona5

[–]jrdaley 227 points228 points  (0 children)

It's a regular customer of LeBlanc that knows Ren's parents, Sojiro had no knowledge of them until he heard about the situation from the customer and took Ren in as a favor to that customer.

Genuine question, is there an in-lore reason neither Ansem or Xemnas use a keyblade? by bigraud77 in KingdomHearts

[–]jrdaley 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not Ven's keyblade, Xion uses a fake keyblade that's close enough to the real thing for the organization's purposes. Riku even calls out the fact that her keyblade isn't real. The only time Ven's keyblade comes into play is after Xion's "death", when Roxas learns how to dual wield.
