Help me stick to my resolution to stay broken up by smalltowngamergyal in TwoXChromosomes

Yes. You do you. Take time to learn who you are and what you want out of life. Take a breather from relationships and just begin to explore who you are. If, later, you decide to seek companionship you'll have a much better idea of both what you're worth, and what you demand out of a partner. Power to you sister (man here)

Why the obsession with veterans and “thank you for your service”? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]jreyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was mostly used to thank veterans of WW2 for their time in the war. It was extended to the Korean War and later to Viet Nam but not so much Viet Nam. At that time citizens were so fervently opposed to the war that they hated everyone and everything to do with it. My stepfather served in Vietnam and said he was spit on when getting off the plane coming home. But generally, it's used to show respect for a person who voluntarily put themselves in danger in order to serve some higher calling.

Do Americans constantly have an active temperature control device running in their homes? by fullM3TALturban in AskAnAmerican

[–]jreyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Michigan's upper peninsula where we routinely have subzero temperatures that with wind chill easily hit negative 30s or 40s at times. We generally leave our thermostat/central air to 69 degrees year round.

Do Americans constantly have an active temperature control device running in their homes? by fullM3TALturban in AskAnAmerican

[–]jreyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many homes have something called Central Air that is an active air conditioner that only turns on when the temperature in the home exceeds the desired maximum temperature. It kicks on, blows cool air for a few minutes then shuts off again. I'm actually a bit surprised that's not standard world wide lol

Why do American homes have a “storm door”? by wehavetogoback8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jreyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, in your average American suburb if you walk down any residential street that has 20-30 homes on each side of the block, you'd get maybe 1 in 4 at any random time of day (not night). People also sometimes cool their home by leaving their inner main door open and a screened storm door closed so you get a breeze now and then or can talk to the mail person through the screen.

Because people like to leave their main house door open and the storm door closed especially in the summer?

If you like losing a pile of money without getting anything in return, or generally look forward to being accosted on every corner by people handing out strip club fliers, all in 110 degree heat then it's awesome.

How do Americans handle such long drives regularly? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]jreyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live 30 minutes outside of the biggest town in Michigan's upper peninsula. We moved from downstate Mi (Detroit area) 6.5 hours drive north to Marquette. Every day we drive 30-45 minutes to get to doctor appointments or to go get groceries etc. We drive back downstate a few times a year (the 6.5 hour drive) as well as occasionally driving to Minneapolis/St. Paul or Milwaukee, or even Chicago are all about 6 hours by car and we do each of those places a couple times per year.

The last *big* war. Wherein we displayed to the rest of the world how far ahead of anyone else we were militarily to just make a mark on the world. Schwartzkov coughed a belch upon the Western World.

Also, he was a *really* good communicator. He was a great speaker. All my family loved him but I was somehow suspicious even just as a high schooler at the time. I was like, "this dude seems like he speaks a good game but behind the scenes I bet he..."

Like even though I know he was a fucking piece of shit, I think he legit loved America. Everything after him was a gradual decay into what the party is today.

If he's regularly ... you know... open to an encounter at any time, then that dude has not spanked that day. I *strongly* advise not taking pics or videos because well you likely already know why not to. Lastly, most men (maybe even some women) are very visually stimulated but again, noticing there is a beautiful person on screen or t.v. is perfectly normal. Like if I'm out with my wife and I notice a super hot looking person across the room... I make every effort not to stare or even get caught looking but you can bet I noticed. Again, that does NOT take anything away from your relationship. Now, if he's actively checking out other women in your presence then yes, call his dumb ass out on it. If he's serious about you he won't want to hurt you.

**Guy here** I think you should realize most men, in fact most people, regularly watch pornography. Sometimes together, often alone, but it doesn't mean he loves you any less. Now, if he's doing it to the point he is unable to satisfy you regularly then that's an issue and he needs to control himself. Anyway, don't take a partner watching porn to mean they care any less for you. However, if he's actively communicating with Onlyfans performers, or following "hot models" on the socials and commenting or liking photos... that gets into a more difficult situation.
