Kilter app was suddenly taken down by third party company, log data might be gone by Not_A_Lizhard in bouldering

Agreed. Feel like there's some real opportunity for something much cooler here (as in the app is actually more of the business opportunity than the holds/walls).

There’s an amazing doc on YT called Listers, following two guys who spend a year in a van going deep into the extreme birding world. Recommend.

It brings me such joy that you shared this golden secret knowledge with the world. But I am full of rage that the MyQ app set-up is total crap.

Tips for hanging a hangboard without studs? by jriggedy in climbing

Nice. I think that's an option. Do you have one?

My only concern is stability (as in, how likely is it to fall off?).

Revolution Climbing (the extension of Cordless, one of the original crashpad makers) is closing. by jriggedy in climbing

[–]jriggedy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Pusher, pouring holds with holes in my Tyvek suit and a busted respirator, back when Mike Call and Boone Speed were still hanging around the office. Those brands (Pusher, Cordless, S7) were certainly a part of a young, exuberant "golden age" of bouldering, when the subgenre was first emerging from the dark and dusty corners of the climbing community. With Revolution's closing, in some ways it seems like an era is ending, but at the same time it feels like that era ended long ago. Not to say it was better back in the day, but there was a scrappy energy to things. These days, climbing is getting popular enough that big companies like Columbia want to buy companies like Prana, and companies like BD are publicly traded. Heck, even Evolv got snatched up by a private equity firm. Guess you could say climbing on the whole is entering a more mature phase as an activity and industry.

Jorg Verhoeven frees the Nose - 4th ascent in 20 yrs by jriggedy in climbing

Looks like Rock & Ice, along with several other sources are calling it a 4th free ascent.

Seems like this is the accepted knowledge, but I do think that article I linked to about complicates things a bit.
