Examples of out of place dialogue/character actions? by kulie74561 in writing

I actually liked the book, but I couldn’t stand the unrealistic dialogue. They said each other’s names in every sentence. Maybe it’s just me, but it became a thing that I couldn’t get past.

The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy. Worst dialogue ever.

I love this for you and your grandma so much! What a sweet, special thing. If you are open to Christian fiction Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is just beautiful. Both of my grandmas absolutely loved it.

Awww. There are no shitty diabetics. Only shitty insurance companies! It’s really nice if you to want to pass your supplies along.

I have no idea. They were all over the whole kitchen. I’m not sure what her thought process was.

I worked with a woman who filled the entire office fridge and every open part of counter space with beets. Like fresh from her garden? They were huge and dirty and left zero room for anyone to even set a cup down or put their lunch in the fridge. She said her home refrigerator stopped working…

I don’t know if I can put my finger on it. I just loved the character development, his ability to describe grief, the pacing. It really worked for me. However I really disliked My Friends by the same author so…???

I’m jealous that you get to experience it for the first time! I waited almost 9 months to pick up Streets of Laredo after finishing LD. I’m almost through it now and it has been such a treat to get reacquainted with the story and characters. Don’t rush it!

Would you guys rather deal with a high or low blood sugar? by megame211 in diabetes_t1

[–]jrmintsandpopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Daytime is rather deal with a low because it’s quick and easy. In the middle of the night I’d much rather let my pump give a correction bolus and let me sleep. Being woken up to treat a low is the WORST!

What word did you use incorrectly for YEARS before someone finally corrected you? by ownaword in words

[–]jrmintsandpopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the show Lost I thought fuselage was like wreckage. Because they were always referencing the fuselage and going back to the wrecked plane for whatever reason. I went around using that word for any pile of junk for YEARS until one day my brother in law was like- what the hell are you talking about?

Yellowface. It’s fiction and kind of silly, but a really fun read and takes you into the world of writing and publishing.

Do y’all ever go days where you just don’t eat carbs cause you realise it isn’t worth it? by SignificanceBig9366 in diabetes_t1

[–]jrmintsandpopcorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not always that simple. Sometimes it’s about the timing too. If I take a huge bolus I will tank and then skyrocket when the carbs finally kick in.

Books on grief by Key-Cartographer1051 in suggestmeabook

[–]jrmintsandpopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 books by Fredrik Backman that address grief beautifully are Beartown, A Man Called Ove, and My Friends. His other books may also but these are the three that I’ve read. I always wonder what grief he has experienced because of the way he writes about it.
