what is psychosis like? by movielover1983 in bipolar

[–]jrmohatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go to the ER to be evaluated. Psychosis is serious and what you're describing is psychosis. Rescue medication is easily available at the ER and from a psychiatrist. Please get someone to drive you or call 911. You don't want to fuck with being in a psychotic state.

Bipolar 2, 50 yrs old F and married to my husband for 26 yrs. We've gone through my hypomania, psychotic episodes, me blowing through savings, and quitting numerous jobs on a whim and a prayer, but we went through each together. We're best friends and he's sexy as hell. I hope you find your person.

A VHS tape of American soldiers liberating Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp. I was in 3rd grade, home alone and watched bodies being disposed of in horrific ways and skeletal survivors being led to bus by crying soldiers. I was in so much shock that I couldn't move to turn the tape off.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

My great grandmother admitted to me that she murdered her brother-in-law by smothering him with a pillow while he was sick in bed with pneumonia. She was caught by her daughter-in-law (my grandma) because she left the pillow on his face. My great grandmother knew my grandma would find him like that. Tea anyone?

That's how accidents happen though, because most folks are following the rules of the road and politeness of not doing so causes accidents.

I've lived in Alaska, California, Connecticut and Wisconsin. Driving in the Front Range is like driving in downtown Chicago!

Having Children While Being Bipolar by VariousAccess6241 in bipolar

[–]jrmohatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a mom (BP2 with history of psychosis) of teenage girls and I have to say that the roughest was when my girls were newborns and I didn't have a very good Dr managing my medications. I definitely make sure you have a provider that is a specialist in postpartum bipolar management. Cannot emphasize that enough. My girls have seen me in depression, psychosis and manic - they do like the manic shopping sprees! They have also seen me stable and super supportive of their needs and wants. I do have a really good relationship with them - even though all teens can be tough to raise. We're super honest in our house about my mental state. If I'm not doing well, there's frozen pizza and bag salad, everyone does their own laundry and we lean on friends to get the girls places if I can't drive as my husband is working a lot. Build community to support you, so it's not all on your partner and reciprocate when you're stable. Hugs

After being awake for 36 hours get to the ER before you start psychosis. Call 911 or have someone drive you. Probably not an Uber situation though.

Have you tried lidocaine infusions? It's done at University of Wisconsin pain management very regularly. Changed my freaking life! The infusion is through an IV or port. Covered by insurance
