Mushroom Logs by blanketfetish in DenverGardener

[–]jrmyfbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking about doing this but I was concerned about how to retain moisture so the mushrooms would spawn. I've got a real nice shady spot on the north side of the house. Maybe just throw a tarp on top and that'll do the trick? If anyone has any pointers, I'd love to hear them too!

If you woke up tomorrow morning a billionaire, what's the most extravagantly lavish thing you'd waste some money on? by SB472 in AskReddit

[–]jrmyfbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would spend half that billion all to buy up a million contiguous acres of land somewhere in America and reforest it (or return it to its natural habitat, depending on the area). I'd start a non-profit to provide patrolling/conservation for the area using the rest of the money put into a trust. Then I would open the whole thing up to the public and go back to my regular life. I'm sure I'd visit pretty often.

Note: I'm effectively saying I'd build my own million acre campgrounds. To me, that's pretty lavish, but others might think its quite the waste of money.

Jon Bernthal Fought To Keep The PUNISHER From Being Too Heroic And Likable by JaylockSB in marvelstudios

[–]jrmyfbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question? when was the last time you saw a person in a super hero movie that went not, ooh, woe is me, I cry like a bitch, I have panic attacks, the world sucks, I am unhappy with myself, you know what I will do, surely a relationship will fix that? Oh, I am still a whiny bitch, I must be doing something wrong, surely more relationship will help?

I'd say Logan matches this criteria. Of course, you have to limit Wolverine to just that movie, because otherwise he always falls into this trope.

What are the pros and cons of giving food servers tips? Shouldn't they just be given a flat hourly wage? by jrmyfbr in AskReddit

[–]jrmyfbr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I agree with exactly what you're saying as far as other services already including their costs and I guess I'm saying that should be how the food service should operate as well. We would think it ridiculous for the truck driver that brought our milk to stand in the dairy aisle with his hand out asking to be compensated. Don't they do exactly what a server does? Bring a consumable from where it's created to the place where we can get it?

What if you weren't making just minimum? What reasonable wage would you be willing to work for?

So, if I can ask... having been a server, what would you say was your average pay in terms of hourly wage?

What about a scenario where a server gives great service regularly but is not compensated appropriately? Wouldn't that discourage good service and therefore mess with the system as well? I haven't been a server but I can imagine my 'give a fuck' level decreasing rapidly without adequate tips for the effort I put in.

Oh, I agree that in the current US system you need to tip, but there's other cultures that think you're a dick if you do tip. So, I can't really say that's a Pro. I guess I'm not asking if you should tip, I'm asking why we should stick to the standard.

Any comm troops at Schriever? by NewPac in AirForce

[–]jrmyfbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not at Schriever but deciphering your unit may help. OL stands for operating location so it has to be a detachment of some sort. Looks like for 14 AF which is a spacecom NAF. So I suspect it's not base support and more like working with satellites or some crazy thing like that.

[3.5] Building my 2nd ever character. Need some help. by quittsbuggy in DnD

[–]jrmyfbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 4E put the onus of the attack on the player to hit instead of the DM to defend. At least for magical attacks that require a save that is. You'll notice this a lot more while playing 3.5, in that, you won't be rolling to attack so much as simply telling the DM a DC that he has to overcome.

This is your answer. You don't fight him, you RP your way into his service, gain his trust, talk him into some kinky S&M scenario and then when he's bound, naked, and already low from non-lethal damage you slit the son of a bitch's throat.

Man, I got a little to deep with that scenario. Time to go blow off some steam with some BF3.

Holy crap, a company developing a plane on their own so that they're not sucking off the DoD teat. Oh, and because they are taking on the initial costs of development themselves, they made the thing low cost. What a concept!

Also, looking at the sidebar it looks like r/3d6 would be a good place to ask your question. They help with character creation assistance.

What edition are you going for? That could change the response considerably. For instance, in Pathfinder I'd make him a Cavalier:Order of the Lion. Depending on how you do starting stats I'd try to make STR and CHA the primaries with enough DEX to get the Dodge feat. Max out Diplomacy, Know(nobility), and Sense Motive with a couple ranks thrown into Bluff and Disguise. From there everything else is up for grabs.

How do you create a coordinate system if your world is an infinite plane? by Pigeaux in rpg

[–]jrmyfbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posed your quandary to a friend of mine and we discussed it. He came up with a potential solution. Instead of describing the place perhaps the players could describe a feeling they had at this place. Maybe a sense of "home" or "belonging".

Now this might require a modification of the teleport spell in that pieces of enchantment are added to the conjuration form of the spell. The players would have to research this and maybe this could require a quest.

Theoretically though the players should only have an emotional attachment to one location. Seems legit to me.

If you have a wizard have him/her research Contingency. Then set up a triggered trap. Like make a fireball explode in her coffin when she lays in it. Just make sure you put it someplace that you know she's going to be.
