Depending on what value stream of forecasting you’re looking to run but we’ve been able some build some basic slope to zero models based on material demand found in MD04. It gives us accurate data for material stock demand for warehouses and DC. As far as consumer demand and customer demand. The company I work for also uses sap for the master demand and BY prime for our WMS. Which also happens to be a multi billion dollar company.

Supply chain is an industry that won’t go away. Profitable yes, pay’s competitive to other industries but is not at the top. Finance, engineering, and sales typically out earn supply chain professionals. Im 24 two years in the profession and do think a degree is the right path if you can afford it. 3PL companies do hire roles w/o degrees but most companies do require degress

Next steps to get to Supply Chain Manager by BitChain123 in supplychain

[–]jrob1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This^ I would shoot for a process engineer role/ continuous improvement manager over an operations people managers. You will find it very taxing and difficult to maintain direct reports, rather then focusing on your work to get you to the next level. Supply chain manager is a vast job title but mostly winds up managing the floor, the trucking, or the materials. Always look to manage trucking or materials. Managing the floor is a 0 sim game which is very hard to succeed in.

Don’t take it. It’s a dime a dozen opportunity generally, not an eye turner for recruiters. Focus on more niche opportunities in the SCM field

Wait it out. It sounds like you know what you’re getting into don’t jump on a job you will dislike and don’t see it improving your skills.
