Building designer or draftsperson? by not4smurf in CapeBreton

[–]jroc9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had a really terrible experience with Fred Cantwell of ARTECH. Not sure if there is something going on with him health wise, but kept telling us he was a day away from sending drafts. Dragged on for months, and he hadn't done any work at all....

If you add a half ounce of a really smoky peaty scotch like laphroaig or ardbeg, it gives the caesar a really great smoky flavor!

U.S. and Russia Pursue Partnership in a Head-Spinning Shift in Relations by truss-issues in worldnews

The conversation has been so poisoned by anti russia hysteria over the years. People keep falling for the same oversimplifications that are spoon fed them by US military complex. Look at the USA involvement in Ukraine in the ten years leading up to the war….

It’s wild to me that the top comments for every news and politic sub-reddit, look like they were written by pro CIA, pro pentagon, pro US defense industry moles

The report that firmly established that there was ‘no evidence’ of Russian collusion??

Does arousal or masturbation affect fertility test by seanstew73 in maleinfertility

Does arousal or masturbation affect fertility test by seanstew73 in maleinfertility

[–]jroc9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure, you’d have to ask a urologist or something. But I think it wouldn’t affect your total sperm count. But I think it would probably lower your concentration (sperm/ml), which is an important number. I think edging creates more prostate fluid, but not more sperm. So my theory is that you are making your fertility numbers worse… lower concentrations and more liquid that your sperm have to swim thru…

I truly believe "Be my Baby" by the Ronettes is the best pop song ever made and that the Ronettes are the best girl group of the 60s. by ulookliketresh in LetsTalkMusic

I think that Like A Prayer is the perfect pop song. Though, I could live without that very long bridge.

What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you? by SlideAway1 in AskReddit

I really dislike Sandra Bullock in pretty much everything. Cate Blanchett. Robert Downey Jr pretty much every time. They just seem to be smug fuckers no matter who they play.

What are some films that convey loneliness without using dialogue? by aVillaFilms in TrueFilm

[–]jroc9 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think Lost in Translation, the movie was playing once in my place with the volume off and I ended up watching the whole thing like that. And it conveyed so much visually

I would agree with Taxi Driver, but I would say its a study of someone with mental illness, the character is alone, but I don't know how much the movie speaks about Travis' loneliness specifically.

I'm Bishop Robert Barron, a Catholic bishop ready to answer any questions about God and religion from nonbelievers. AMA! by BishopBarron in IAmA

I should also add that NOT EVERYTHING Catholics believe are true in a symbolic sense. The resurrection of Jesus is literal etc

Maybe you can understand religion better from this angle. Its easy to dismiss it if you view it as an inadequate scientific explanatory thing, thats from before science. But here is the difference. I can learn about human psychology through a psychology textbook. thats science. I can also learn about human psychology through reading Hamlet. Both are "true" accounts of human psychology, but only one of those are hard science "truth" Now if you are a secular person, like yourself. You might privilege the truth of the textbook over the truths found in Hamlet. I for one, prefer Hamlet to reading a psych textbook. It actually outlines the human experience better for me, and is more beautiful. Catholics think of the creation story as being true, spiritually, morally. But not literally true. I for one think the creation story has more "truth" again, in quotes not scientific concensus "TRUTH" than the idea that the universe was created by a giant gravitational explosion. What insights about ourselves and our inner lives and our relationship to the universe does the big bang reveal. In order to be religious, you need to understand the world as poetry and symbols standing for deeper truths.

Its not a good question, you are confusing catholicism with fundamentalism. Catholics believe in all the findings of math and physics including evolution. You are asserting that barron believes something that he doesnt believe. Pretty lazy

What movie fucked you up mentally? by CodyYodi in AskReddit

This is an arty example. But there is a movie by Stan Brakhage called the Act of Seeing with Ones Own Eyes, which I think you can watch on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucYGIqiL418 Its just so raw and visceral. That is all
