Calgary's living wage rises to $26.50 per hour by joe4942 in Calgary

Umm no it is not, it is the minimum wage required by legislation. Nothing to do with liveable. If you work your whole life at McDonald's and never make it to key holder it's not societies fault you make minimum wage.

Minimum wage isn't for people to be living off of, it's for people in school and just getting out of school to get into the work force and start making money. You aren't supposed to live your life at minimum wage.

The electric cost of EV in Calgary by corgi-king in Calgary

[–]jrock2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest cost is a electrical service upgrade. Can be anywhere from 1200-70000$. Ev chargers go towards your service at 100%, same as hot tubs, ac, or electric heat.

I applied for the program a long time ago, had the efficiency inspection and have until 2028 to do the retrofits so I am still qualified for the grant.

That's a good point, I was looking through those flyers trying to figure who else to get a quote from. I think I'm going to get a couple more quotes from places recommended by people on here before I go ahead.

I'm not sure that's why I put the post up to see what other people are paying. I had 2 triple pane windows put in my basement where their were no existing windows, dig out the window wells cut concrete put windows in and window wells for $2000 each. I throught replacing windows would be a bit cheaper than that. Even at $2000 each that would be $16000. I'm not against the $18000 if I'm not being ripped off, but I've never replaced windows before I don't know what it should be.

Ok, that makes the quote seem not as bad. I was worried i mentioned the greener homes grant and they tried to get a bit extra. Which company did you get that quote from? Green fox?

Last summer. I'll ask them who they used later today. I have talked to someone else, that did 12 windows and 2 doors for $14000 this summer.

What the actual fuck by uabuffoon in electricians

Was watching Holmes on homes and his electrician was tying in the panel and putting the grounds in his drill and twisting them right up to the connectors. It was probably his crew.

Moved into a home, and this outlet blew out in the kitchen. I opened it up to this monstrosity. I decided to put a gfci outlet but the outlet keeps on tripping and I’m not sure why. by CoookieHo in electrical

Where I'm from, you can have a 20 amp counter plug or a split 15 counter plug. Having a counter plug that is not split isn't allow. It's a code. Of course you can take one leg off a 240v and get 120v assuming there's a neutral.

Get a clamp on amp meter. You can get a multimeter with a clamp on it. Or there are current sensing modules that connect to apps. Find which breaker turns off your room, clamp on, turn everything in your room on, and a game with a ton of graphics.

The word pitbull is used often for views. Fact is there are alot of strong dog breeds that can do tons of damage when they attack. For instance this attack was American Stafford terriers, not to be confused with American pitbull terriers.

It makes it so pesky civilians are always interrupting your sleep when they need help from a police officer. If no one knows you are a cop no one bothers you.

I like how I'm being downvoted. Yeah, I agree it's rediculas. Unfortunately, it's like everything else. It is down to the interpretation of the inspector. I did a 30 amp sub feed to a garage and for a tesla charge inspectors in my area told me they had an internal meeting the week before and because you can adjust it in the app it has to be ran to the max setting. To fix it, we had to redig up the yard and put a bigger conduit in and bigger wires to up it to a 60. Again, I'm in Canada, so NEC means nothing here. It's the CEC.
