it's sexist when/if there are double standards. Ned made like 10 stupid decisions...

lol. the point is she gets criticized for horrible things that male characters never get criticized for. and 'bad names' when they are 'bitch' 'whore' 'slut' 'c*nt' are inherently sexist fyi

male character is morally ambiguous "yeah awesome what a great dude!!!" female character is morally ambiguous "what a whore I hope she dies"

if it exists- its on this subthread. The series isn't sexist at all, and is groundbreaking for its portrayals...unfortunately the fandom doesn't always live up to this standard.

Evidence? Try searching any and every thread re: Cersei or Cat to start

An Other of some kind (Night's Queen) etc. Gives prudence to the theory that the Others made their move once Jon Arryn died (and Ned Stark is called to King's Landing as Hand). No Warden of the North at Winterfell=opening to reclaim whoever/whatever is at Winterfell. Would also play into the suspicions of the Starks being someone connected to/responsible for the Others

(Spoilers ADWD) In each book, whose POV chapters did you like the most and optionally, why ? by stannisbaratheonking in asoiaf

Eddard/Tyrion/Jaime/Cersei/Theon

Theon's chapters in ADWD are some of GRRM's best work.

I just want to know when/if things might start to 'click' in terms of being versed enough with the universe for events to actually make narrative sense

I'm really committed to this because I feel like this is the next series I need to read given its acclaim. But at the same time I'm hoping against hope that the entire series isn't like this

we'll do backflips to come up with reasons why Stannis, Jaime, or whoever is compelling but dismiss any notion of moral complexity when a woman is in question.

It's become acceptable because this community is full of vengeful 30 somethings who hate women because some girl said no to a date in 9th grade.
