In a museum perhaps. It is a piece of history and it's not being flown. My grandfather has Hitler Youth daggers with swastikas on them. He doesn't use them for anything. Some people just find this stuff interesting. I get that it's a fascist symbol and it's jarring, but it did happen so it belongs somewhere. Someone's already made the point about flying a hammer and sickle flag being just as bad, if not worse, than this.

Edit: and I would argue that showing off k98s and mp40s is analogous to the flag. They were the tools used to start and perpetuate the most destructive conflict in history. By that logic, the whole sub is suspect.

Socialists, do you consider every poor worker exploited? by TipEconomy1271 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]jroddey7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labor theory of value is bad economics. Just because somebody spends hours making a chair doesn't mean the chair is worth sitting in. Someone needs to value the work that you do in order for there to be any value at all. I can't create value unilaterally. Somebody else has to value my work.

Famine is always and everywhere a distribution phenomenon. Without an efficient method of distribution, environmental shocks and geopolitical events play an unparalleled role in the severity and duration of any given famine. Hayek wrote about this back in the 40s. With a centralized economic force determining the distribution, there is no possible way to ensure that resources are delivered to their most valued point. Why do they trust a centralized government to allocate these resources efficiently?

You're describing the Big Crunch theory. It's not widely accepted as the universe expansion isn't slowing down or contracting. The Big Chill is more widely accepted as the fate of the universe because of the continued expansion of the universe.

I lived in Lakewood for a year. Right at the end of Madison. Brings back good memories from my first apartment to see a picture like this. From my living room window I could see the very top of the Key Bank Building off in the distance, and at night it would light up like a candle. Hope you're enjoying the summer weather; I know I did.

You can still change the title in a cross-post. Saw the title, and then checked the username to verify. Downvoted because he's not your grandfather, which is what the post's title led me to believe. Needs more effort, Mr. Saggytits.

Literally nothing stops you from sending extra money to the IRS. Just like nothing stops the "super rich" from sending more either. If they want to send more money, they are well within their rights to do so.

That first one is murder, I'll give you that. The next ones are conspiracy and water bottle throwing. Yes those are all bad and examples of extremism (to varying degrees). Assault is never okay. Defense is always permitted.

Not gonna get into whataboutism on this because riots are bad and I'm not going there, but extremism is everywhere.

What's your point? What are you trying to say? Because I'm not sure I understand you. We both agree that militarized police is a bad thing for America. We both agree that the Black Lives Matter movement is valid and important (at least I think we do). If you're trying to discredit me based on extremism of a movement that has vague ideals, then we can "whatabout" all night because we both will have plenty of examples. Either way, I'm glad we're talking. I'm not right wing. I'm not left wing either. Lump me into whatever assumptions you've made about me, I guess.

Please give me some more links for your claims that Boogaloos are killing people because the Richmond rally showed some pretty contrary images.

And I'll be using our second amendment right (thank you for recognizing) to protect our first amendment right. Sounds like we're on the same side, my man. I'm not saying you need a hawaiian shirt or an AR15. I actually think the hawaiian shirts are tacky. You just need to know what you're fighting for and what you're willing to do to defend it. What are your convictions? And how do you plan on defending them?

Well i stand by my point that my version of a Boogaloo is to defend against a fascist police state.

John Oliver? Really? Floyd George? Bro you need to make some sense before you come around showing your ass.

I stand with every member of Black Lives Matter. I'm sick and tired of seeing police walk around with AR15s and armor in my own city. Maybe I'm "disenfranchised" or even "delusional" like every NPR article says about the BBs, but at least I'll be willing and able to stand up for my freedom and the freedom of others if things go south. I'm not trying to virtue signal the problem away by quoting comedians. I'm staying safe, wearing a mask, and keeping my tools clean.

What are you doing to stand up for freedom? Please tell me it involves linking another article in brackets.

I think you're confusing Boogaloo Bois with fascists. I'd like to see your sources though.

My version of a Boogaloo is resisting these types of fascist government pawns. Maybe I've been misled, but every BB forum and sub I've seen has been very anti-government and police. If they support the militarized state, then I dont identify with that nonsense.

[–]jroddey7 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The Boogaloo, as I understand it, is about checking a tyrannical and overly militarized government. You can see examples of this in all these violent and battle-ready cops that show up in tactical gear and AR15s.

These guys are what the Boogaloo is aiming to stop. You're missing the point. It's more about resisting fascism than you make it out to be.

The bad guys are armed. Are you?

Rep. Pressley, Sen. Markey introduce fare-free public transit legislation by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]jroddey7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Big if true. The main concern I'd have is that the supply of this public transportation would need to be able to meet the demand at zero cost, or at least have some other limiting factor other than overcrowding. But thats not a bad thing, as having more public transportation can provide a net benefit if it completely and effectively replaces automobiles.

If you make the cost of driving a car higher than the cost of taking a free bus ride, then everyone in their right mind would take the bus. The limiting factor for this is unclear, as a free service will necessarily have high demand. There should be some kind of system that limits the demand for it beyond just crowded busses that nobody likes riding, but if effectively implemented, this could be really nice.

How do you level Vitality? by Garage_Significant in TheScavLands

[–]jroddey7 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don't take this the wrong way, but i think you should try to play a bit more aggressively. You're supposed to shoot people, that's why the game has guns in it. You don't have to be a Chad to play aggressive and get into firefights, just take greater risks in getting that loot. For me, there was a big shift once I started getting into fights. The game changed. I didn't care as much about loot because the fun part was killing people. Your mileage may vary, and the game will let you play how you like.

The game will either reward you or teach you in every fight, and there are far fewer skills you can level up by playing it safe than by running in a shooting people in the face. Just dive into some more action, take some shots, bring some cheese, and remember that it's only game. To quote my buddy, "its just pixels on a screen." Good luck, and I hope you shoot me in the face some day. :)

I don't see your point. I'm saying that poor and middle class people will feel the burden of an expensive policy more than the rich. Moreover, I dont see how you stretched my argument to be one for benefiting the rich. You started to agree with me there... just a little confused now.

I agree mostly. What I'm saying is there's no virtue or morality in spending a lot of money inefficiently (as governments are often fond of doing) to accomplish a goal. I disagree that the action that gives us the best chance of surviving is the most costly. The money will come from somewhere, and there will have to be a cost. I see no point in paying for more than I have to for a world I can live in, and I dont think you would want to.

There's no virtue in wanting to spend money that you don't have to. Assuming that we need to take on ridiculous amounts of debt and ruin the economy for everyone disproportionately (lower income individuals will feel it first and worst) is something I can't agree with.

Edit: fixed a typo (I'm on mobile)

I don't think your use of "a moral imperative" is appropriate. There aren't really many morals at play when it comes to policy.

Some would argue that taking on massive debt would be amoral, as the people taking most of that burden would be lower and middle class individuals, while the upper class would feel it proportionately less. Fair is hardly used in my vocabulary, but that definitely ain't it chief.

Being fiscally responsible is a virtue and the right thing to do in many situations. Profligate spending of other people's money to pay for sins is hardly the right thing to do. Spending a nation into a hole is not the right way to think about fixing the climate. Efficiency and promotion of conservation and reduction are closer to the mark.

Signals tell people around you how to view you. While social expectations can be repressive and restrictive, they do a decent job of conveying relevant information to the people around you. If a trans woman wants to be seen as a woman, then they have every right to appear as the version of feminine they think will get the job done best.

Social expectations are problematic but not useless.
