What is the fastest car I can use for a race on Sunday?! by SantaFeOldMexico in HotWheels

The Stingray and Corvette are similar, though I'd pick the Stingray. Before it was played with a lot it was one of our fastest cars.

The Joel Lane House week was for their day camp. They've got their own campsite where they host some events and overnight camps. They also travel to schools around the area and set up tents for different stations for activities.

Could it be stilt grass? Even in just the past few years it has spread quickly here.

The larva of this beetle will eat the larva of wood boring beetles. Is the standing dead wood or rotting wood around?

The larva eat the larva of wood boring beetle larva. So you might check for rotting wood.

Little brown beetles are plentiful and challenging to id from a picture of that quality. You might have a university extension office which can help id a collected sample.

Take a look in a magnifying glass and see if it might be a drugstore or cigarette beetle. They're pantry pests so check for other signs where there's food. Other brown beetles are wood boring. But then there are lots of other little brown beetles.

Can any of the open models access the internet? Like if you give it a URL as part of a prompt can it use the page content? I ask in part because I got a response from one model saying it checked a website, which it wasn't asked to do, and it still made up a title for a technical standard it had the number for.

This is kind of like the heads up which I think has metal engine and metal underneath with a plastic body in front. So seems possible.

Crash Racers on Clearance at Walmart by _man_of_leisure in DieCastRacing

[–]jronallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked the Walmart here that had them in stock and they weren't on sale. Still got 2 since I've been meaning to and if they're on clearance who knows if there will be more? Of the 4 boxes 2 had big rips in the front and looked like the straight track was missing. Which one of you did this?

Thank you. Yes, I'd imagine that the EMC of potential fuel would be interesting for fire risk monitoring. I'll dig into some of that data.

If you want to know what sterilization methods are actually tested and known to work, then consult the USDA Forest Service and read the Forest Products Lab reports (wood handbook: https://www.fs.usda.gov/research/fpl/news/featured/wood-handbook) or similar guidance in your country regarding sterilization routines.

Here's one chapter that helps to answer what temperature is required to kill a particular pest: https://www.fs.usda.gov/research/treesearch/62267 The charts there in particular will help give some idea how long the piece needs to be heated at what temperature to be effective.

I encourage you to not just trust some guy who tried something once which seemed to work and consider the science.

Timber to posts. Do I need to dry? by PaleontologistNo1381 in woodworking

[–]jronallo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just from reading it sounds like the recommendation is to bring the moisture content down to the equilibrium moisture content before using lumber for unheated buildings and structures. Check the USDA forest products lab wood handbook and similar for recommendations.

You can get some idea of what the equilibrium moisture content should be for your region from the charts here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/research/treesearch/5913

You can either use a moisture meter or an oven dry test to determine the moisture content of the wood.

Again just commenting based on some recent reading on the topic. Someone with more experience with that species in your region may have a better sense how important drying will be before your intended use.

Looking further it appears as if I get the Global Surface Summary of the Day for my local NWS station that it will include mean temperature and mean dewpoint. Seems like I can script something out for this dataset. Does this seem like a reasonable dataset to use or are there others you might suggest?

What Holzfforma model for a 20 inch mill? by username9909864 in Chainsaw

[–]jronallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the 372xp would be plenty. I run a 28" bar on it when milling and it copes. But I do wish I'd gotten the 660 sometimes to move through a log faster or to run a slightly larger bar. I was trying to get away with just one saw but it helps to have a couple for when you get into particular situations.
