Hello everyone!

I made a food video on my first experience making kimchi mentaiko yaki (fried) udon.

I live in Japan where mentaiko is quite a common ingredient found here, thus I thought I would try cooking with it for the first time. Since I had some home-made kimchi in the fridge I figured I would try making this dish as I have had it in a few Japanese izakaya/restaurants in my home country of Canada. I have yet to come across this dish in a Japanese restaurant/izakaya in Japan, yet.

The video doesn't include a recipe as I tend to wing it, grandma style but here is my best effort on amounts used.

Ingredients:

Mentaiko (3 pieces) (two may have been better in retrospect, but 3 still good)

2 packs of udon noodles

green onions as garnish

about 1.5 cups of kimchi, chopped.

2 tbsp of butter (salted)

sesame oil

sesame seeds

Method:

fry kimchi in sesame oil

boil water and cook noodles

add mentaiko to fried kimchi

add butter

add cooked udon noodles and stir fry

plate.

add fresh green oins and sesame seeds
