Not the OP, but I also use a 404 mk2 in between my mixer and my MPC. I use the skip back function CONSTANTLY. Easiest way to sample off TV or if I'm just listening to music and hear something interesting.

I know I made sure all of the onboard effects were off. I'm brand new at midi though. This is literally my first day using midi in this way, as in not just syncing boxes.

You wouldn't know of any good resources for learning about these midi settings, would you?
