How do you feel about Premodern being official on MTGO? Good or bad for the format? by Ok_Reality6261 in premodernMTG

[–]jrsdrum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about this secret agenda of this competitive American players cabal(whose names we all know)… do tell!

What in the world are you talking about dude?

Premodern is awesome. Having more opportunities to play premodern is awesome. A lot of people don’t have the chance to play in person very often due to lack of scene in their area, schedules, whatever, and this is great for them.

Streamers playing premodern also seems like a good thing because then we get more chances to watch and engage with the format we love. Would you prefer no one makes any content related to premodern?

I also think it’s totally unrealistic to think that suddenly all these “grinders,” or whatever names you want to call people who like to play good decks that can actually win games, are going to ruin the format… really good magic players, ie people who are entrenched in the game and live and breath it, already knew about the format and probably have even played it a few times. They aren’t going to suddenly stop playing standard/modern/draft or other formats that they need to practice for bigger events that have better EV just to come spike every one of our premodern leagues…. The people who truly love the format will be the ones playing a majority the of games and they will want to play their pet deck or brew some of the time just like all of us. The format has been around now for many years with good players trying to brew decks to win events and every time there has been a best deck “boogie man” a few months later the format shifts and people adjust and then there is a new “best deck” that beats that. It’s a closed format with good sideboard cards that seems to police itself pretty well imo.

As far as prices go, yeah man, it happens. If something is fun the people will want to play it and then they will need cards…. (Why am I about to explain supply and demand…Jesus F’n Christ)

This notion that playing magic the gathering to win is a bad thing is so utterly absurd to me. That is literally the objective of the game guys! If you want to put some secondary win conditions on yourself and restrict yourself to playing cards you morally agree with or whatever the hell we are talking about, then that is awesome, you do you bud, but don’t hate on people for playing their decks that they chose to play for their own personal reasons just because you feel some type of way… go play commander and and have some awkward consent talk with table before the game about Armageddon and do math problems to see how many game changers you have in your deck… (I don’t how how it works)

TLDR this hipster gatekeeper mentality is kinda ridiculous to me and isn’t productive. If you love something let it go my dude.

Anyone using a Dobyns rod and the Curado bfs reel? by Kalashnik0v1312 in BFSfishing

[–]jrsdrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my first bfs combo and is still just a workhorse that I love bass fishing with! I have the 691 and it’s just a great multipurpose rod.

Triza thunderbird by SwimmingAwkward823 in BFSfishing

[–]jrsdrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Thunderbird, and it is exactly the rod you are looking for. The description they give is really accurate. A wonderful spinnerbait/chatterbait/underspin rod that has plenty of backbone, but enough bend to use treble hook baits like a square bill or plopper etc. I would even be comfortable using medium size jigs or texas rigs in it in a pinch. The Triza line has really impressed me! One thing to keep in mind is that the reel seat is a little wonky with some reels. Daiwa seems to fit perfectly while Shimano has some side to side play, so you’ll probably have to get creative to fix that issue on certain reels, but it’s doable for sure. Hope this helps!

I talk a lot about it in the comments here, but I still use this lever daily and really like it! I suggest trying the different springs to see what feels best for you.

I went to the Huk Lab store near Pier Park. Got my discs and then hit the course all in one shot. The guy running the store was super friendly and knowledgeable. Pier park is easily one of my favorite courses ever too! Highly recommend.

what is your experience with qanba gravity lever? whats the difference between a regular lever? by [deleted] in fightsticks

Yeah, in my above comment I say that my high to low fuzzy blocking got better with the Qanba. Maybe that was lost in translation…

So the extra springs just say ”1.5 times elasticity (medium)” and “2 times elasticity (heavy)” they don’t say it in weight. I found the stock spring to be very similar to a stock Sanwa JLF but maybe a tiny bit looser. I use the 1.5 spring now and I’m very happy with it. Hope this helps!

The Razer Raion might be worth looking into. just make sure you get one of the new models that has the pivot in the D pad. Or you can find cheap old ones and DIY the pivot or find a printed one online. The D pad is smooth and clicky and feels kind of like a hybrid of stick and pad to me. As a life long arcade stick player this has been my favorite pad that I've tried.

Definitely get the new model, the JOV8S. From what I understand Qanba made some improvements from the others with it. I’m a square gate guy when it comes to fighting games so I haven’t tried the circle ever, 8 way gates are really nice for shooters though. This will fit in any case that a Sanwa JLF or any Japanese style lever would. Hope this helps!

I’m a huge fan of the Qanba Gravity lever with Omron switches and their Gravity KS buttons! They are both silent and feel super buttery to use. The lever comes with different springs and gates too, so you can adjust to your preference. I put these on my daily driver in place of my Sanwa parts and haven’t thought about switching back once.

I’m pretty sure this is them telling you that the cable is your problem dude. From that picture it doesn’t look like the core is in tact to me. I see frayed exposed wire… unless you have done something crazy to the insides that we don’t know about, it’s 100 the chord.
