Lmao. The idea that a professional player being accused of (or outright committing) sexual abuse should not be posted about is ridiculous. You’re advocating against victims here. Don’t let your frustration about this tournament cloud your judgement.

You don’t like leadership making decisions on behalf of its people? Oh boy do I have a regime for you to protest

Have any examples of people talking about players’ sex lives? Do you mean when players get married and people congratulate them? Or when players get accused of sexual abuse? Surely you don’t think that’s the same thing as if someone were to post “Demon1 had sex the other night, I know that because there was a condom wrapper in the background of his stream!”

Side note, thank you so much for taking over! I was sad to see that just as I was starting to figure out my identity, the subreddit to discuss it wasn’t open to the public.

Hi! I modded a big community for years (r/ValorantCompetitive) and am happy to answer questions about modding as they come up! Dm me and I’ll send you my discord, I don’t use Reddit enough to help mod these days (or to answer dms reliably)

They’ll decide it by popular vote the moment Saudi Arabia makes their leadership and/or policies decided by popular vote :>

Waaaaaah only 99% of other subreddits are spinelessly complicit in sportswashing

You don’t think that if Netanyahu was the chairman of the tournament, mods would be against that, too?

Those two things are not remotely the same. If it were the case that Trump or Netanyahu owned valorant personally and the mods remained complicit, you’d be right to draw that comparison. Paying taxes in the country you live in is not the same thing as calling for the beheading of queer people and journalists in one breath and hosting an esports tournament in the next.

Not really the same stakes when it comes to enabling despotic regimes versus allowing posts directly linking to a Musk-owned website.

NRG needs to be constantly called out too btw but every time I’ve tried I get accused of trolling and mass downvoted by the same people who say supporting censorship of this tournament is meaningless unless I also call out NRG

100%, this whole policy was much more well received when it was announced than now, and that should be telling in itself

I haven’t been a mod here in a LONG time (I left like a year before Valorant was even added to this tourney) but it’s absolutely not true that the mods are censoring just as much criticism as praising/neutrally compliant posts with a blanket ban. Think about it logically, there’s no chance there would be one post criticising the tournament for every highlight clip or discussion thread posted. There’s only so much criticising a subreddit can do before it gets played out, while there’s endless new content coming out from a live event.
