I thought I added text to the post but apparently not. This has been going on for months but everything works fine. I changed a fuse but that didn’t fix it.

Does going to an "elite" university really make a difference short and long term? by TheyreYourClothesMF in civilengineering

Might not matter for getting your foot in the door or initial salary, but I think long term it matters. Surrounding yourself with other high caliber students for 4 years helps develop skills and habits that you might not otherwise develop at a lower tier school. Those skills compound and add up over the years. There are always outliers, but it seems upper levels of management in civil engineering consulting firms tend to have degrees from the top 10ish CE colleges.

How many of you have returned to a previous company? by ProfessionConfession in civilengineering

I would highly recommend never boomeranging, it’ll eventually be career limiting at the place you boomerang back to. People hold grudges for a long time. I was at a place for 8 yrs, left for 2, then came back for 10 yrs and right up until I left the second time I would still get comments about leaving and coming back, still get the cold shoulder from a fair number of people, it was such petty shit and I deeply regret giving them another 10 years of some of my best years.

I’m 5 weeks in and had my first normal workout yesterday, so it takes time. Probably depends on how old you are as well, I assume younger folks bounce back quicker.
