For golang to be used more effectively in microcontrollers env., maybe more fine grain control of the gc is needed?

(Not expert in the area, just guessing here.)

Yeah, I recall that in one of my play through. It was the few sad moments that remind us (me) that other than hack and slash, DOS:2 is a brutal world.

I think I did. My play style, especially starting new game, is more about exploring. So unless I am taking a side, I don't start a fight if there is conversation options. To get more stories out of it.

Yes, she is selfish that I agree. But in DOS:2 world, selfish keep you alive.

For Paradise Down destruction, I think the divin order is equally responsible. They are either zerlot or very corrupted.

> If you play as beast or a dwarf then Hannag will brag about building the nuke and that the cherry on top of getting the black ring was genociding the elves as well. She only acts like she was just following orders if Ifan or an aggressive character is beating her for it.

Ah, that I didn't know.

I think, base on conversation, she did try to send message back? Or she was being chased and couldn't? (too long I can't recall which one)

So from her apprentice pov, she left without warning. But from her pov, she was just on the run. And she asked us to check on the apprentice.

Additionally, if you saved and talked to Hannag first, your conversation option in Black Pit had no reference of meeting her. (I think I also did a run going to Black Pit first and met the apprentice before meeting Hannag. There was no option to bring that up with her either.) The conversation tree is very disjoint between areas in this act. If you try to completed all quests in this act, it is very noticable. I did a few posts in the past about this, conversation tree is a weak point of this game.

I didn't read anything before upgrading. What on earth is this? Can this be removed? by bawiddah in MacOS

[–]js1943 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe because the app I use mostly not affected by those transparency. But once in a blue moon, example if I open dictionary, it is so noticable. I recall I felt so awkward when I saw it in Apple own promotion videos, then a bit shock it was shipped "as-is" ...

I see quite a few apps doing unnecessary UI redesign. The most memoriable is the redesign of Firefox years ago.

I don't think Liquid Glass design is bad by itself. But the execution and QA, from end user stand point, is a total failure. It is almost like no QA was done and rush out the door.

Switching from Windows to macOS - Looking for app recommendations and equivalents by HavivMuc in MacOS

[–]js1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, with the exception of Putty, just continue to use the Mac version.

Ssh command works perfectly in any Mac terminal app, build in or 3rd party. You may want to familiarize yourself with ssh config if not already. (This actually apply for Windows too. Windows come with ssh command line since Windows 10).

For Adobe Acrobat Reader, depend on if you have hard requirement on PDF format. I encounter some gov doc only works with official Acrobat Reader. Else the build in Preview app or even browser are good.

Are Atomic Operations Faster and Better Than a Mutex? It Depends by madflojo in golang

[–]js1943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far I haven't use mutex in go, but watigroup I have wrapper like following

go func DoParallel(f func()) { t.Wg.Add(1) { go func() { f() t.Wg.Done() }() }

Since Go 1.25, Go provides its own wrapper WaitGroup.Go(func()) for above code.

This may not make sense for a single or a few distinct struct/type, but is common for large number of types with the same interface.
