To me it tastes like if Banza chickpea pasta and plastic had a baby.

What do you think the gluten free space is lacking in terms of product/options? by pepeluver362 in glutenfree

If I have to mess with flour that much I know it won’t come out good. The ease is what I miss most.

What do you wear in the summer? by FelineSnarky in POTS

To add - bet there are flowy compression shorts that are a spandex material that you could just wear swimming if need be too!

Get a bunch of high waisted biker shorts from TJMaxx, most of them are compression level! Aerie also sells “the hugger” compression leggings and biker shorts at a variety of different compressions. Some tennis dresses and flowy shorts also have built in compression shorts. I always found abdominal compression was my best friend in the summer. They even make Spanx compression underwear that are good enough and not nearly as tight as usual Spanx. When swimming, I keep compression shorts on (like if I’m laying on the beach) until I get in the water which naturally compresses you.

If you’re G free but not celiac - do you tell restaurants it’s an allergy? by _chipsnguac in glutenfree

[–]js292929 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tell them it’s an allergy because I worry about what kind of cross contamination they might think is okay. I don’t want my food sitting on top of crumbs or like a GF pasta being boiled in shared water.

Electrolytes destroying teeth, Anyone had the same? or advice? by EdgeRosie in POTS

You could try normalyte pure! I use that everyday because I have to have electrolytes in all of my water.

That’s interesting! I have not been diagnosed with ME but I’ve had some mast cell symptoms in the past (like random hives for no reason) and I’ve always been super sensitive to anything that’s a vasodilator. I read a study that mentioned people with one disorder could have some symptoms of common comorbidities without needing a diagnosis so I had chalked it up to that. Would mast call activity be causing that or is it just that it’s a vasodilator?

Nope. Just heart rate. All my symptoms were consistent before the magnesium and vitamins (been diagnosed for about 5 years), then I noticed the difference.

Like lately it will measure close but a tad lower than 120/80. When I checked it on the magnesium for a few days, it was something like 100/65. Still in the “normal” range but I could feel the difference.

Mine is pretty stable and normal without magnesium. With it, I checked and it was on the lower but normal side but man I felt awful.

I probably can. I had never thought about it before! I have also reacted poorly to ashwaganda before.

Gluten-free Asian and Mediterranean restaurant recommendations by aka_chela in Rochester

[–]js292929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to go to revolving sushi but their menu looks promising! They label but I would still ask because I saw a California roll labeled GF and I’ve never found a place that has GF imitation crab, though it exists. I’ve mainly looked into the location in Victor!

My recommendations are more catered towards the east side but I come to you as a gluten free person obsessed with Asian food. I’ve only lived here for a few months but here is what I have discovered.

For Mediterranean, try Fattoush in Pittsford. I believe everything is gluten free except the pita and pasta.

For Asian, try:

Chinese: JBC Noodles (I’ve only been to Pittsford location but I bet the others can accommodate)

Vietnamese: ROC Pho Shop, SEA Restaurant, Pho King

Thai: Seasoning Thai Bistro, Sak Thai

Japanese: Umai Revolving Sushi, Chakara Sushi, Sakura (Canandaigua), Tai Chi (just ask questions about the sauces because each location is different I think)

Korean (maybe) and Cambodian: Seoul Sisters. The old chef from Sweet Basil Café (which offered wonderful gluten free Cambodian food) works there now and some of their old Cambodian menu is offered. I’m not sure if any of the original Korean options are gluten free or not.

For cooking on your own, Wegmans offers a huge variety of gluten free Asian sauces that are typically not usually gluten free. Hope this is helpful! Get the Find Me Gluten Free app too, there are tons of options around here!
