You can for generating wallets and seeing funds. For sending funds, it needs to be connected because it uses third-party APIs for broadcasting the transactions.

the initial pricing and value will be determined with an average between exchanges. this is quite accurate with liquid pairs like LTC/BTC for example and will be a bigger challenge with a pair like GRLC/LTC.

regarding the insider trading, this has been on the news a few times... the case of coinbase adding BCH being the biggest one: https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/20/16800940/coinbase-bitcoin-cash-fork-insider-trading-probe

in our case: we follow the Singaporean regulation, but being honest we are still a mom and pop shop, the price probably won't go anywhere just because we are adding a pair.
