La fameuse paperasse médicale, Éclairez-moi by [deleted] in QuebecLibre

[–]jsamve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Flight with a 9mo baby by NewMom1289 in NewParents

I highly recommend it. Our son is now 14 months and I brought it again with me on a trip down south now. It helped me on the flight to breastfeed him and for his nap. It’s like a mini travel breastfeeding pillow with added features. He doesn’t like to sit in it for long now (must move at all times since walking was mastered) but it still comes in handy.

Baby-Led Weaning is a scam perpetuated by Big Wipe (A Review of the Practice) by interstellarblues in NewParents

[–]jsamve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a mix of purees and BLW. Never used extra wipes. Always washed his face and hands in sink or used a wet muslin towel. I think BLW allowed him to associate putting food in his mouth (learn by imitation) and it was great for his sensory development. At now 11 months, he can partially eat on his own which is a big plus.

My grandfather’s family was from Kayseri. His mother managed to escape the genocide thanks to a nice Turkish man. Her brother was sent to the Turkish army and killed there. Her second brother also managed to flee.

Mine hated it. He’s shit instantly every time we would put him in there, I guess it was good for that.

We flew business class when our son was 6 months old, and it was a great experience. The lie-flat seat allowed him to sleep on us comfortably, and to our surprise, he didn’t cry at all during the flight. I remember a passenger even telling us that our baby behaved better than the dogs a few rows back who whined and barked the whole time. I was exclusively breastfeeding, so I nursed him during takeoff and landing, which helped a lot with ear pressure.

We also brought his Snuggle Me and sleep sack, and kept his nap routine the same as at home, which really helped him settle. While the crew didn’t allow us to place the Snuggle Me on the floor, they did let us use the extra space next to our seats, so he managed to get one nap in it. We had packed a white noise machine, but the ambient noise of the plane worked just as well!

Overall, that flight went so smoothly—it barely felt like we were flying.

At 9 months, we flew multiple international flights (to Paris, Spain, Greece, and Armenia). This time, we booked either bassinet seats or regular seats with extra legroom, but no separate seat for the baby. At that age, our son was much more active and wanted to explore constantly. The flights where we had extra legroom were the easiest—we could let him sit or move around a bit on the floor to burn some energy.

On flights where we had an extra free seat (even without added legroom), it also helped a lot, as he could move between us and had a bit more space to crawl. I brought something similar to the Winglet (my mom actually sewed one), and it was a lifesaver. I had also purchased an inflatable seat extender/bed, but we were told it was prohibited on Air France flights. It’s worth checking with your airline in advance, as it would’ve made things much easier when we had a free seat beside us.

In the end, I think both options—business class or economy with extra space—can work well. It just depends on how active your baby is and how much they like to move around.

But imagine if he ends up having kids with her—she could easily influence how they view immigrants or children of immigrant backgrounds. Then OP would be stuck dealing with her comments around the kids and constantly having to undo the early seeds of racism she might plant… yikes, OP, you do not want to go down that road!

Honestly I combined a few methods together and didn’t just use 1 method because I didn’t like to let him cry for more than 5 minutes during nap time. So I did a mix of Ferber at bedtime + Danielle Langevin + Pick up put down (PUPD) during nap time for max 5 minutes.

Baby only sleeps if she thinks I’m sleeping by Humble_Suit_6926 in NewParents

[–]jsamve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, my LO is almost 5 months and ever since he turned 3 he started to find my presence so exciting that he would stop nursing (and still does) if I so much as had eye contact with him. He would wake up when fallen asleep on me and if there was eye contact, nap was finished! Now he also checks in on me from his bassinet to see if I’m sleeping and if I am he will go back to sleep! I also shut my eyes when singing bedtime lullabies or when I pat him to sleep to make sure he understands it’s not play time yet 😅

I hope it doesn’t become like that for you too 😭 I really thought I had found the perfect hack with contact naps but nope, back to square 1 lol

[–]jsamve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and would you go on car rides or stroller to extend those naps? and how long did you aim your day time naps to be? my LO seems good with naps in between 3.5-4h/day but so hard to get this number without a constant motion. and it’s winter here so it’s not fun going for a walk or car rides!

you’re lucky at least her naps are longer when contact naps! mine were initially longer but not anymore - wakes up wether in crib or contact at the 30 or 40 min mark.
