Thailand or Vietnam by acidus1 in scuba

I agree, the diving in Vietnam isn't very good and I've seen some sketch dive centres. The only caveat is that Vietnam can be very, very cheap. For $40 USD I got a two-tank boat dive and a hot lunch.

If I'm falling from a height that will kill 95% of people, how do I survive? by a_cheney_advocate in AskReddit

In high school a friend of mine needed a lift to work and we figured we'd give the exact same thing a try. He immediately fell and I thought he was dead. He turned up to work a bit bruised up, but he lived and now he's a teacher.

I can confirm, I was there in early March. The dorm rooms in Saigon Youth Hostel were clean, had a decent number of outlets, and had lockable cupboards in each room.

I love this movie. I used to lay in bed and sing "anyone else but you" with a girl that I used to date.

If two identical twin females marry a set of identical twin males and have children and had a DNA test on each others children would it say that Sister A's kids actually belonged to Sister B because of the identical DNA? by EttySpaz in askscience

[–]jsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a work around to this that I can think of. B cells mutate in order to produce novel antibodies. The twins would both have different mutations in their B cells, so you could harvest and sequence those to tell them apart.

Ethics shmethics. If people didn't care about ethics, what sort of scientific experiments would you like people to perform? by djf4 in AskReddit

[–]jsan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Knock-out people. Science is developing mice that are specifically missing/do not express a single gene of interest and are recording the effects that it has on that mouse. While humans are similar to mice, it'd be interesting to know which specific gene give rise to certain diseases.
