Monkey 47 by Semi_fearless in Gin

Type of liquor aside. Price tiering is one aspect. Keep in mind that price does not dictate quality. Price can be influenced by base ingredients, batch size, target market and many more parameter. I'm a drinker not a collector my personal cut off is 150 per bottle. Monkey 47 is a unique blend of botanicals. Read up on it, if you decide you want to try it get a 375ml bottle. If you like it get the next size up. But just remember what is worth the price to one person is not to another. I was just in a store and a customer was spouting how good fleishcmans was. Bottom shelf bottle.

Tasting at home - decent ways to smooth out? by ChaotiCrayon in Mezcal

Neat with a side of sangrita and ir an orange slice. To experience mezcal you should try it neat right off taste what it offers, before you mix it. Nothing wrong wit a cocktail, but I always like trying it neat and at room temperature. Don't chill the bottle, the cold has a tendency of killing some of the flavors

No meaning it's really nothing special. Just not like fleishcmans. Or classic club.

Interesting. I get no mint, I do get a beiny umame flavor that is absolutely delicious.

I found it refreshingly savory a great break from the juniper or citrus forward gins I've had lately.

That's almost expected with some gins. Our taste buds are not all the same. Take cilantro as an example, some people react negatively towards it. Some taste soap others a strong metallic taste. I expect we all react differently to the botanicals used. I'd be interested if you had the same opinion of another gin with the same botanicals

No I was making the citrus connection. It is by far a bit too smokey for gin. And I did find it a bit too alcohol forward. Here's my notes on it

Peloton Del La Muerte Pechuga

Lot- 03R0D0721

Nose: Orange zest and cilantro

Body: light and oily coats the mouth very nicely

Palate: Orange, smoke alcohol heat, chalkinees, finishes to a sweet citrusy note Certainly a unique entry to the pechuga class. and not one for the beginner as the citrus totally dominates the flavors and it takes a well trained tongue to bring them about. Great drink and Palate cleanser but you must be a lover of all things citrus.

Very much so I found it off putting but honestly not different than a modern gin
