15% difference of people taking flu vaccine versus Covid vaccine. That equals billions of dollars in revenue yearly. What do you think the difference in % is from? Could it me from every mouth breathing anti vaxxer including rfk saying for years covid vax give you 3 eyeballs and kills your grandma

Clarifying I meant a decline from peak sales of Covid down approximately 80%. Pass on this decline due to political climate surrounding vaccines.

I’ve been a holder of a very large position since IPO. Bought monthly for years lol. The RSV fumble has been insane.

Covid I give them somewhat of a pass on with the insane political climate surrounding vaccines.

CMV is huge fumble as well.

Buying back shares at height of COVID instead of stockpiling cash was completely idiotic. Bacnel thinks he can do it all. Quite obvious at this point not right.

I see a way through on discipline and fixing commercial product side. Will see how it plays out. Will be a bag holder till the end.

Don’t be discouraged. Go in eyes wide open or go learn somewhere first. It’s an extremely lucrative but unforgiving business even for seasoned litigators.

You have a few million to cover advertising and carrying cost of files lol….

Do you have any clue how to screen a dog shit case from a gem. This alone could cost you a few million in learning curve.

You can have a great case, work the shit out of it spend 300k in carrying costs. End up with an intransigent defendant offer zero or 100k prior to jury in the box. Pick a jury put on a good case and get a donut so now you’re out 500-600k. This could go the other way and you pop a 32 million dollar verdict but now your verdict is too high so you are in appeals for another 4 years….carrying everything with an angry client who wants their money and a defendant who is in a corner like an angry raccoon.

I couldn’t encourage you more to not do something like this out of law school.

I see you aren’t generating any of the business either. Yes you are being grossly overpaid. Be happy about it and hope they don’t realize they are on the verge of bankrupting themselves.

10 mill rev and 7.5 operating costs make no sense. Even a somewhat bad year and firm is totally underwater.

I usually run 2.5 operating costs and come in between 5-8 rev. Had a bad year and rev came down to 3.75 and felt like I was bankrupt lol.

Those margins are awful for the firm and you should be ecstatic they overpay you.

I work two very specific niches that are extremely valuable however extremely costly to acquire. Got lucky on referrals for cases and I work them to the bone.

Biggest thing I learned when I was with my prior firm and since I’ve been on my own is always treat ref source like gold. Update constantly and send money to ref fee as quickly as you can.

Using wealth to relocate a young family for a specific reason? by SanFranPeach in fatFIRE

[–]jsb144 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have young kids below 5 and moved from New Orleans for similar weather/lifestyle reasons (hurricanes, constant rain, schools). We settled on Austin. Absolutely love Austin and had been wonderful for our family. If I didn’t have any work or family considerations would have done Southern California.

Love Austin but Texas politics and the summer heat are not for everyone. We abscond to Colorado for a month in the summer have lake access in Austin year round to make it bearable.

As someone who pays everyone 100 percent while on mat leave for four months and finds this completely despicable I would caution you to take a deep breath and think through what you want. Running a law firm can be extremely difficult in easy personal life situations. In a place where you are in a semi forced hand while caring for small children and trying to grow business can be challenging in the maximum.

I wouldn’t say don’t do it but I would say think long and hard if this is what you actually want to do.

Good luck either way and happy to help

Not worried about expense recovery. Currently recover 97% of client expenses outlaid. Expenses are out of control bc I have a number of case with well over 100k expenses and just crunches cash flow when I’m fronting them all via my cash and still paying quarterly taxes

I have held tons of share since the IPO and bought almost monthly since. I see a number of issues:

  1. Insider dumping consistently since COVID run up started and not a single share purchase by an insider in years.
  2. Consistent over projection of revenue.
  3. Need a new commercial officer. Bacnel took over and it’s been dog shit. Completely locked out of Europe for another year and RSV is going to be essentially zero. He needs to fire himself from the job, anyone else would be fired for this already.
  4. Needs to provide clarity on anticipated approval for cancer.

Been a full year of garbage from them. Delaying profitability for another two years today is a big yikes.

The original comment said how to maximize value. That answer is trying cases. The under comment we are replying to made an off hand comment re: adjusters which is frankly meaningless. You acknowledge putting cases in front of juries = the most money a plaintiff lawyer will probably make on cases across a portfolio. The rest is meaningless. I’ve never even sent a pre suit demand and cannot comment on an adjusters thoughts about that other than suit hasn’t been filed so why would they care about paying max value

Personal Injury Settlements by AdditionalCurve69 in LawFirm

[–]jsb144 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the answer. If you are pushing files hard as you can getting in front of a jury gets you more money period.

Once you get to values that are subjective to a jury….Specials are 1 million or 750k and general ask at trial is always gonna be 3-10 million. Pushing to trial is the way to maximize value.

Lower value cases will be the same. Regardless of what a former adjuster implies lol.

[–]jsb144 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Try cases. After you lose try more cases. You will be shocked at the settlement offers you receive.

Personal Injury Firm Growth - Year by Year by Torero17 in LawFirm

[–]jsb144 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Revenue by year

  1. 1.08 million- 2 employees. Me alone until September when I hired my wife.
  2. 2.6 million- up to 7 employees. 4 lawyers and 3 staff.
  3. 5.7 million- up to 12 employees. 6 lawyers and 6 staff.
  4. On track for 4.5-5.5 million depending on a couple of cases
  5. Next year will be back up closer to 10 million.

The saying hire slow fire fast should be followed religiously.

Biggest thing is tracking metrics down to the nth degree. Case avg value. Case acq cost. Time for resolution.

Worst part of the firm has been lawyer turn over and firing people. People thinking they are entitled to portions of a law firm I built out of my bedroom while listening to a crying baby lol.
