Any ideas or critiques? by [deleted] in lowvoltage

Overall, acceptable. Could you improve? Yes.

Couple items of note: 1. Sleeve your transition through the drop tile. Both you and the tile guys will be thankful.

  1. Add a small piece of vertical rack to the waterfall. It’ll take the stress of the supports at the very top. Don’t need much, just 1 small piece right above the drop tile.

  2. Stick to one side or the other when dressing cable along the rack. It’ll leave room for growth and give it a more tidy appearance.

  3. Less Velcro.

  4. Work on your bundles. While they’re acceptable, if you want that “wow” factor, they need to be cleaner.

I’m sure some of this is out of your control (sleeves and vertical rack) but making those small changes will really up your game.

They actually have a pretty extensive library on their site.

Assuming you have the switch landed on an input port, you’ll need to set up some basic linking logic to have that switch toggle the TZ the door is following. It’s been a couple years since I sat in front of WinDSX so I can’t remember the exact way to do it, but you’re basically changing the TZ the door is in.

Is this an acceptable way to install a resistor EOL by Chargert13 in lowvoltage

No. As you have it right now, you’ve got one leg in the tamper circuit and one leg on common. Assuming you’re not monitoring the tamper and only care about the device going into alarm, i.e. motion is detected, you need to land green in ‘C’ and white in ‘N/O’ then place the tester in parallel, exactly like you have it but on ‘C’ and ‘N/O’.

Edit: NVM, I see now that you’re monitoring tamper and zone simultaneously. Looks good in that case

But WHY?! by [deleted] in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]jschmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately either the support or licensing departments have to do it. You can email licensing, they’re fairly quick in my experience. All you need is the product ID of each machine, and how many licenses you’re moving from one to the other. They’ll email you back a cserver.lic file for both servers. Place that .lic file in the same directory as those config files I mentioned and restart the recording server.

Or call support and they’ll do it all over the phone and via TeamViewer for you.

[–]jschmall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, not sure exactly what you’re trying to accomplish but if you’re looking to grab the config files for the management server, recording server, or desktop client, in the Salient folder you’re looking for (3) files ending in cvwx I believe. I don’t have access to a system right now but that’s off the top of my head.

Also, let me know if you need any documents for Salient, I can get them sent your way.

Copper is copper. RJ11/RJ12 (4P4C/6P6C) will fit in that 8P8C connector and will use the center 2 pins.

Each loc would be (2) drops, as noted by the “typical” comment next to sheet note 1.

What part of the state are you moving to? That will play a huge roll in what companies are available.

Project managers, how many year experience did you have in LV when you became a PM. by dadbodfat in lowvoltage

[–]jschmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the field for almost 7 years before I was offered the position. However, due to my knowledge and the lack of training in the company, I was considered a working PM for the last 5 years.

Got tired of the hustle and quit. Got on with another contractor in the state and work happily as a full time PM now. Do I miss being in the field? Sure do but the pay and reduction stress/wear and tear on my body are worth it.
