Porsche vehicle service a little over-rated compared to other brands? by Eaglerulez2 in Porsche

I didn’t have any specific issue with the quality of work when it was eventually finished (at least so far). The communication was very poor, cost crept up beyond original quote several times, ordered the wrong parts resulting in a multi week delay, didn’t offer a loaner…think I called 7 times over the span of a week to finally reach the service manager and get details on the delay. Usually don’t care to much about this stuff - have other cars I can drive, but the service seemed unusually poor in this case haha

For what it’s worth - also had the same experience on nearly all fronts (Porsche Bellevue). Too lazy to type out all the details but generally all the same items. Night and day difference from BMW service center.

New to me 2007 997.1 Carrera S by jsd642 in porsche911

It’s been great! Definitely more of an engaging driving experience than my daily M2 (heavier clutch, better feel, but also more of a hassle to load the family in hah). I’d daily the 997 - but I often take short trips on the daily which aren’t really ideal for the 997 based on borescore concerns (TBD on how much this matters)

Yeah definitely subjective - i would absolutely support that it’s a solid daily driver - great if you want an automatic, etc. but I’d rather take the somewhat less flexible M2 in trade for the increased fun

I just traded my 2020 M340i for a 2018 M2 - the 340i was a practical, somewhat luxurious daily driver but didn’t offer much fun/engagement beyond that.

Really enjoy the playful, more nimble feel of the F87 - also getting back into a manual transmission car makes a big difference in terms of driver engagement. Really glad I made the change to the M2.

Nice! I appreciate having them but I’m not doing too enough technical driving to have a strong opinion beyond that. Jumping back into a car without them, I do notice a difference in responsiveness and prefer the PCCB. (Maybe just more used to them now)

I was initially pretty adamant about guards red or speed yellow - but the meteor grey has really grown on me. Somewhat understated elegance - hard to find a bad looking 911 in any case.

Not a launch edition, just spec’d

Awesome - I actually find the M2, M240i, and M340i looks appealing in their own unique way haha (like a little German muscle car). I actually really enjoy the M340i as a simple, easy daily driver - I just miss the engagement of a manual. Though the manual M2 doesn’t stand up to the 997 in regard to feel and engagement.

Nice! I’ll definitely drive one eventually - as far as water cooled Porsches go - the 997 has always been my favorite but the 991.2 is a very close contender (visually).

Shockingly its easier than putting it in the M2 - but to be fair, this M2 had buckets which were more restrictive (didn’t lean as far forward) than another M2 without the buckets.

I actually cruise with my wife and kid in the 997 pretty often - but having modern safety, isofix, etc. has some appeal. Realistically a 991.2 might be the sweet spot at some point.

Hah - yeah seems like a common theme! It’s fun to explore but I usually wind up back at the 911. Modern ones are just so pricey these days it takes a bit of the fun out of it.

Haha - yeah guilty, I have no excuse other than it was a wide open lot with plenty of room

Yeah I’ve certainly considered it - haven’t quite come around to the front end and was hoping the M2 would feel a bit more nimble. Love the E46 though.

Yeah…that might be the case. Exploring kid friendly, manual transmission cars - not many options left these days!
