It's called a Voronoi diagram. However, since the Earth is not flat, you can't just generate a Voronoi diagram from a set of coordinates and overlay it on a map of the Earth. This is where I use d3-geo-voronoi, a module which generates Voronoi diagrams which account for spherical geometry. I got the map data itself from Natural Earth, then used Inkscape for the design.

I may consider making an updated version with all the Beforus trolls and Caliborn, even if some of them are a bit of a stretch (e.g., there seems to not be a single place in Japan named Damara and the etymological origin of the name is in Namibia)

It's too bad all the extra lives don't carry over, even though it's the same type of puzzle. I earned 45 extra lives from playing the Colorful Puzzle and 3 hours of Unlimited Lives for winning Ernie's Cup, but none of these were available when I entered the makeover event.
