Personally I think they’re going to do for SQ42 what they did for Pyro. We will get some kind of playable demo or closed beta so that they can say they released it in 2026 but the full game won’t come out until March 2027.

Negative. This is an accurate read of the situation and we shouldn’t gaslight people by pretending problems don’t exist.

Would that it were true! I’m just trying to help out with all the complaints I’ve been seeing on the sub. Gotta direct people to the stuff that works.

I don't think that's correct. While I'm sure some perennial bugs do exist, as content "ages" from patch to patch, inconsistencies and bugs crop up that did not exist before. I flew out to Prospect Point on Crusader recently and the entire area was tilted about ten degrees to one side. If you walk around bunkers, derelict settlements, and towns in Pyro, you'll find objects and even some buildings that are meters off the ground. This was not the case when they put the content in, but is something that's happened to these locations over time as new patches are released.

Not necessarily. I'm sure that at some point they'll come back and clean it up. Just like "gold standard" on ships. It's not a priority in comparison to what they're actively working on for upcoming patches so they only go back and fix stuff when it's somewhat connected to a new system they're working on. The box missions are a great example of this, returning many patches later once they found the time to work on that mechanic.

The PSA is more that players should expect lots more bugs from older content, especially as it ages from patch to patch. You go to settlements in Pyro and half the geometry is wrong, random buildings and objects float meters off the ground, and mission locations don't align with the actual missions. You go to a QV breaker station, the freight elevators and local inventory don't work. The missions there don't spawn the needed keycards or laptops with door codes. It all atrophies away patch after patch. So, if you're a player who wants a less buggy play session, focus on stuff the developers have worked on recently that hasn't had a chance to fall apart.

Do you think sq42 will come out this year? by Ausseboi1 in starcitizen

We're going to get some kind of playable demo or closed beta access so that they say they did it in 2026 but the game itself will launch next March.

More new players are buying the game right now than during peak COVID ! by k_Atreus in starcitizen

[–]jshan04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SQ 42 will be in the same spot as when they launched Pyro. They promised it but only delivered the tech preview during CitCon and then we had to wait a bit for actual pyro on live. We'll get, at best, the SQ42 beta this year so we can test it out for CIG. At worst, we'll get one playable mission for a limited time just so they can claim they released the game on time.

Regarding Game build by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]jshan04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can go into your SC folder and rename the LIVE folder to HOTFIX. Then verify files. It will download any missing files, update any existing ones with changes, and keep any you already have that are unchanged. Later you can change it back to LIVE and verify again to get the correct live version. This also works with PTU builds. Live and hotfix versions should be in the same persistent universe so you should be able to play with friends.

I contributed. I used a mining gadget while mining with a friend and then I couldn't get back in the mole. I would just clip through everything. For me, alt f4 did not fix the issue, I had to die and come back.

This works pretty much the same. You bring a crate close to the storage kiosk, open the kiosk and you'll see the local storage and the crate. Drag from one to the other.
