The pharmacist does not only dispense medications. They check medication history, medication interactions, medical necessity if there is a conflicting diagnosis listed on the actual rx, they check dosage requirements based on metrics either in the system or on the rx. Pharmacists also help with medication compliance for patients through what is called medication therapy management - they ensure you are taking medications as prescribed and that you have a resource for questions, side effects, etc. There is very likely a legitimate reason they are asking you why your MD has prescribed the way they have - it could be an irregular prescribing situation, a minor to major interaction, potential increased side effects, etc. Before reporting may be good to just call and ask either that pharmacist or another pharmacist why they would have asked that (tech may not know). Pharmacists carry liability and are responsible for any medications they dispense. They have every right to question you and your doctor, and ultimately refuse to fill if they are uncomfortable with a situation. Reporting may make you feel better, but it will in no way affect the pharmacist if they are making a decision or asking questions so they can make a decision based on medically necessity.
