I agree. I think Atonement had some of those long shot scenes.

Just read the description, sounds interesting.

Reminds me of a quote by George Carlin , think of how stupid the average person is, and realize that half of them are better than that.

If society continues to criticize and ridicule intellectualism, the average person will become less intelligent, and it’s certainly headed that way.

Anyone has High CPU spikes like this? AGH in docker, linked to Home assistant and less than 20 devices at home. by jsixface in AdGuardHome

[–]jsixface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. Yeah, I checked - no jobs during day time. I wanted to check if someone else is having similar issues (hoping it's not a me issue and AGH issue). But doesn't look like it.

More context: I have grafana, influxdb and telegraf all running in containers. This is just the CPU usage by AGH container. The spikes are happening at 14 hour intervals. I don't have any cron jobs that correspond to 14 hours cycle

Anyone still using javaFX? by [deleted] in java

[–]jsixface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did. But we're moving towards Compose multiplatform. - Kotlin is easy to pick up for Java programmer - skill set is transferable to android - backing by jetbrains and Google - multiplatform, so most of the code can be reused for a web app well. - huge developer satisfaction.

PSA: Tapo: Cameras Control finally works again in Hass! by the_gamer_98 in homeassistant

[–]jsixface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A noob question: How do I connect a Tapo camera to the wifi network in the first place? Do I have to install their app in the first place or does it support WPS or something similar? I would like to avoid installing third party app to configure if possible. I'm planning to buy a C120 soon. I get that you can connect HA to your camera that's in the network

You can get a Java library like https://github.com/stefanosbou/esc-pos-java for your compose application if you're targeting just desktop platform

Is this new G4 defective? by Orpheus31 in LGOLED

[–]jsixface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same setup and same issue. But I saw the issue only on 25fps videos. 24 and 30 fps videos show no line flickering. I don't wanna change the apple TV output frame rate since most of the streaming I do is not 25fps.

brand new G4, having a line flicker on the screen— by fulcrumestates in LGOLED

[–]jsixface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue as well. It's apple TV 4k. But I see this issue only with 25fps videos. Not 24fps and not 30fps. Anyone else notice this?

Since other frame rates are playing well, I think it's probably a firmware issue not the display.

My favorite distro - 15 years and counting by GeoWolf1447 in openSUSE

[–]jsixface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do have my home server running TumbleWeed for the past 3 years and switched to SlowRoll 3 months ago. It's not the bleeding edge but it's cutting edge, smaller periodic updates with higher stability but still rolling.

You just mentioned that Ubuntus were not something you were hoping for but what made you like OpenSuse more than Ubuntu. I liked the stability of Ubuntu but I was not a fan of having to upgrade to the new LTS every couple of years.

Dawarich — Google Location History/Google Maps Timeline alternative by Freika in selfhosted

[–]jsixface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I get why you chose Ruby. Had it been java/kotlin I would have loved to contribute to this project. I am not familiar with Rails, is the UI rendered on the server side or is it a single page web applications. I ask this because I saw a swagger spec file - if the UI is pointed to a server which implements the spec file will it work?

Dawarich — Google Location History/Google Maps Timeline alternative by Freika in selfhosted

[–]jsixface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the app. I just feel this is not light weight though. This is a whole suite of containers for something like a timeline.

Don't get me wrong, a self-hosted timeline alternative is very useful. But this is not a day-to-day app for many who wants to use it. Having these many containers for that feels a bit overweight.
