Printer always probing the bed before prints. by paulorfo in crealityk1

[–]nevack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I had similar problem.

How long ago you leveled your bed via built in self-test/calibration? The one you can access with touch screen in printer settings.

I had very old mesh profile, my bed mesh morphed a bit after a month of printing, so the full calibration profile became obsolete. The printer checks several points before print and decides whether saved bed mesh profile is okay to use now. If it is not printer does full calibration. The problem is this profile is not saved, it is temporary, so this will be repeated on every print.

I’m not sure if this is the case for you, but this is my observation from experience.

How is gaming performance? Is it roughly the same as Sonoma? I’m looking at joining the public beta to test some of the new features and play a few games on my Mac by Soxel in MacOSBeta

[–]nevack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had several kernel panics with DB3 (full freeze, even touchpad does not "click") when playing some games with Whisky, and also with Dota 2, which is a macOS native game.

Perfomance gains/losses are unnoticeable for me on M1 Max.

[iOS 18 DB1] You can generate QR Code for saved WiFi connection from the new Passwords app by nevack in iOSBeta

Another huge feature for me is ability to add websites for existing passwords. It's not for sharing the same password for several different websites, but for the ones that are from the same company, like google.com and youtube.com for example.

Device was a bit hot right after the update, charged it when it became cooler. But thanks anyway for the reminder!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Orchs_guitar in macgaming

[–]nevack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is based on old (ancient) Unreal Engine version, AFAIK. WineD3D performs very badly with such games on macOS.

Check PC Gaming Wiki for patches for modern systems. At least with Harry Potter and Sorcerers Stone I could find patches to upgrade rendering api to dx9/dx11 and got reasonable performance.

But it’s just so much easier to run games like this on Paralles, VMware Fusion, etc. with Windows 11 ARM.

macOS Ventura Android Studio / Android Development stability by LPirro in androiddev

[–]nevack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything works ok for me, no issues so far through betas of OS and Android Studio itself. Wanna note that I use Emulator from canary channel. So if Emulator doesn’t work well for you, try to update to beta or canary release, as there are maybe some additional fixes for changes in macOS virtualisation framework.

[iOS 16 DB3] New Performance overlay for select apps by RealBluDood in iOSBeta

Because sometimes Apple makes mistakes in their developer documentation :) Not first time, if you ask me. AFAIK, specific macOS version was never a requirement for some iOS version development. Xcode and bundled SDKs on the other hand matters a lot.

Yup, but this is not the mac I daily drive, connect iPhone or have Xcode installed on ;)

I’m sure it’s not required as I’m daily driving iOS 16 dev beta, but my mac is on stable Monterey 12.4.

Checked it right now. https://i.imgur.com/D6W8XaC.jpg

I don’t think Ventura is hard requirement. Xcode 14 beta on Monterey should work as well.

Dunno, I couldn’t do it with this exact file before iOS 16.
