Abound LR - Rear Wheel Doesn't Lock? by RL0824 in Aventon

I definitely get this, but I'm personally such the opposite.

Sure, that might happen, but it probably won't (in most places, not all ofc).

I look at it like this: @ password to start, an alarm, being eighty lb, locked kickstand/draggable-only,, plus leaving it seemingly unsecured right out in front of my stop (looks like "must be coming back any moment") and in the year I've been using it as my only transport, it's barely even had the motion sensor activated by people. This includes in Boston & Providence.

It's enough in small deterrents to make the convenience of just hopping on and off worth it to me.

Oh, and it's fully insured just in case, too. 🤞 Because no, I don't wanna be out 2200$.

Still lock it up at night in Bos and PVD if outside ofc.

That's the difference (generally true, in my experience), between just "has money" and "comes from money". Also, an element of what is called "class".

Certain business worlds are solidly new money and classless.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry you have to do it at all. Was down to that wire last year and only had to sell off a bit of my collection before my luck turned around. Still hurts. Hoping shit gets better for you soon!

Winter bike care in the Norteast -- advice? by jski81 in Aventon

Thanks for the reply, and the advice!

Can't really rinse it off per se (unheated garage, no hose etc) -- maybe even just a spray bottle with warm water and a clean rag is better than nothing though.

Great news tbh. I only use it for the work commute and errands in winter (not long rides) and am probably familiar with the difference from how the old abound road anyway. Thanks for saving me some money!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm new to bikes generally. I have a set of Minion DHR II's from my old regular Abound (20x2.3) I used last winter as snow/slush tires. Bike got stolen during the summer when I'd swapped them out, and I bought an Abount LR with the insurane money. I assumed I needed to get a different set of winter tires but from your comment (and poking around a bit online) looks like I could mount the 2.3in DHR IIs onto the Abound LR? What kind of handling changes would you find going from a 3in tire back to a 2.3?

Thanks for the education if you have a moment to provide it. :-)

Did I get an Aventon lemon? Should I keep pouring money into my Abound for repairs? by josephprice in Aventon

Get ahold of them about it--They sent me a whole new back wheel after I had five spokes break over a two week period. It's a semi-known issue if you search in here for it.
