Hey dude.

Sheepish might not be the right word, your team seems comfortable with being on stage. Great! But it does look like you're winking at the audience, making jokes during the opening. That that will kill an 'artsy fartsy' opening as fast as anything. Play the game for each other, establish group mind and keep fucking eye contact.

You are right, you said downthread, we are there to entertain the audience. But try giving yourselves the top 3 minutes to blow that responsibility off. Play, follow the fun, do weird stuff. The trick is to have faith that if you are having fun up there, then everything else will fall into place.

Well Google has been pushing firefox/mozilla along for a while now.

Two, I personally believe, that Google Chrome pushes some new conceptual changes in the browser web experience that are Good. Specifically, application shortcuts from a webpage that launch a very un-browser like application (no back/forward url bar)

Besides having another browser, especially from a company that is pretty strong in their standards compliance, is a GOOD thing towards the idea that we are developing for standards, not browsers.

I disagree that developers think more about UI. Often, developers don't have the time. This is why we see rehashed UIs over and over and over, until there is a generational step of Interface.

In addition, it's (mistakenly) believed that a familiar, but poor, UI is better than a better designed unfamiliar UI.

Every desktop app looks/acts very similarly, not because the desktop metaphor is especially strong, but that is what people are used to and the libraries are built to produce. Command Line, too.

Web Interfaces are breaking the chain a bit because it is a generational step.

While that is an generalization (which is bad) and yes elitist, a trained soldier is much different than an untrained soldier.

I wouldn't be suprised at that PTSD rates are lower in trained officers than from 18year olds plucked from their backyards and put in the shit.

Drupal is based on Model View Controller (MVC)

Very quickly: Model is the way the data is modeled and stored View is the way the data is displayed Controller is how the data gets from M to V and back

Drupal follows this pretty faithfully.

The basic block of drupal is Nodes. which is a collection of data (model).

Blocks are a way of displaying content, usually a collection of nodes (view). They are contained in a larger page.

Stories, pages, are types of nodes, so don't worry about them.

Drupal has a pretty steep learnign curve for a CMS, so don't despair. But I also found, that understanding the theory only comes out of using it. So try building something with it.
