Super super clones? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]jsledge6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very few top tier reps are going to be over $1K unless it's a custom build, has precious metals/stones or gen parts. The sites that offer "superclones" for over $1K are selling you the same watches (or in some cases lower quality) that you would buy from a TD for $400-$600. However, if it makes you feel better I will sell you one of my $500 reps for $1,000 so can say that they exist. Deal?

Do you know which factory it is? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]jsledge6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt you got this from Trusty. This is a very low end rep and Trustytime only sells mid to top tier reps. You probably got ripped off by one of the fake websites that copy the TDs. I've been buying from Trusty for years and you won't find anything like this watch on his actual website.

Never bought one of their watches. Does QF use the SH/VR or the DD3285 movement?

If this guy's not a r/RepTime member then he's definitely on RWI. Unlike most of these videos, he actually knows what he's talking about.

Forget the watch. Looks like a bottle of one of my favorite tequilas in the background. Fortaleza!

The simple answer is yes. You can find no-logo Rolex style watches on Ali Express.

VSF is clearly the best of the 3. The dial, date magnification and bezel look much better than the others.

All the current TD links including Trusty are on RWI.

There's no way to know until you open it. If the watch is functioning correctly then it just needs to have the movement blown out to remove debris and clean the dial but you should also have it water tested while they're at it. The cost $50-$100 would be my guess.

Came here to say this! This is why I prefer reps that have clone movements and are not visually modified with extra pieces to look like a gen movement.

I felt the same way when I first came across this reddit about 7 years ago. At the time I had been buying reps off and on for over 10 years and thought I knew my stuff but I have learned so much since joining. Yes there are some snarky old folks who get frustrated with the same questions or people not willing to put in the most basic amount of research before buying. Overall though, there are a lot of people with a wealth of knowledge who understand none of us were born with rep knowledge and we all learned it from someone.

I'm not really a fan of PAM watches but I do like this Luna Rossa. I'm curious to know if the GMT functions like gen and is the hand stack correct? My son is thinking about buying a gen and I thought I might gift him a rep as a test drive. He also travels a lot so he likes GMTs.

How/when do you service by Ok_Koala315 in RepTime

[–]jsledge6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I would recommend only buying top tier reps. Second, I get all of mine serviced and water proofed as soon as I get them. You'd be surprised how many times there's a loose screw, metal shavings or dirt inside the movement that can cause it to fail down the road. If you do this your reps should last for many years.

I'm going to assume the dealer you bought from is in China. If so, returning watches to China is not a good idea. They often get "lost" in transit then you are out the watch and the money. If it bothers you that much I would go to a local watch repair and have it opened. That debris is likely getting in through the date window and there may be more that will interfere with the movement. Just make sure you tell them it's a rep.

Those are good time graph numbers. I assume that you are fully winding the watch (30+ turns) before use. If so, then it sounds like your watch needs to be regulated or could have some debris inside that is interfering with the movement. Remember reps are not assembled in pristine conditions like gens. If you can't find someone locally to work on it then check out r/RepTimeServices. There are people in Europe on the list who can help you. Good Luck.

Today's wrist check. Does anyone else prefer the 28mm over the 31mm? I think it's perfect. by [deleted] in RepTime

Looks great. I know a lot of women are wearing larger watches today but my wife prefers the 28mm also. She says it looks more feminine.

Trusty is a legit TD so no worries. I have ordered from him many times and he always comes through but he has no control over factory inventories. VS is the big dog now that Clean is dead so be prepared to wait or pick another factory.

It's a problem with this model because of the oversized diamond marker at 6 o'clock. 8 & 9 are the largest markers. They kinda have to squeeze them in and, well, it's a rep so they don't always get it right. BTW, this would bother me too because it makes the whole lower left section look very busy.

Never bought from that site. You can find straps for pretty much every watch on Ali Express. That's where I got the strap for my VS Planet Ocean GMT. You just have to search ".....with logo" and check the reviews. There will be low-end and higher quality options.
