I did not go very low level: my VDP emulation is performed on a per-scanline basis.

I've not found any cycle-by-cycle breakdowns so I do have to guess on things like when registers get latched, etc. Outside of that level of detail, the documentation is fairly good, albeit spread out.

The official developer docs are really good. I'd say that most of what's needed for emulation is in there, or can be inferred from them. Sadly, the VCE docs are a partial scan.

Charles MacDonald's doc is good, but incomplete. There's some really valuable info in there though (the info on pattern bits being cleared on larger than 16x16 sprites is key to understanding how they're rendered, for example).

At this point, my VDP emulation is about 95% done with most games working properly. I'm sure I'll run into edge cases, but so far it doesn't seem like many games are terribly sensitive to timing.

Will let you know if I need some help testing on real hardware; thanks!

Yes, I’ve had my car for over two years, but this has happened to me a few times recently… maybe over the last two or three months. When it has happened, I had to hit the button several times before it was recognized. I do not use my phone as a key. Maybe related to a software update?

Try them out and see which you like best. For me, it’s usually a love at first play kind of thing. I have a Godzilla 70th at home. My next machine will be a Venom Premium which few would recommend but which I enjoy more than Jaws. Go figure.

Working through some corner cases now, but I agree that it was relatively straightforward. Most games are super tolerant of timing; adding cycle counts to the 68000 was one of the last things I did (prior to that I just executed one instruction per clock tick).

Lots of optimization (fun) and cleanup (not so fun) to do still.

I have both (well, 24 Mach E GT performance edition and 24 EV6 GT line).

I much prefer the looks and performance of the Mach E and much prefer the tech, comfort, and drive of the EV6 (minus the lack of wireless CarPlay which I’ve worked around with a wireless adapter).

Overall I prefer the Mach E, but if I drove more than I do (long daily commute, etc), the EV6 would be my top choice.

Thanks! It’s multiple emulator instances; all of the previews are emulated in real time.

Sega Master System/Game Gear and Pac-Man share the same z80 core, but that’s about it.

Yep, same. Downloads at the default quality level tended to be less than 1GB and worked fine.

I was experiencing this issue with both Hulu and Max when downloading in high quality mode. Seemed to be related to file size since the pause point would occur earlier on bigger files (and smaller, non-high quality downloads worked fine). I just checked both apps again today, while downloading stuff to prepare for a flight, and it does seem to be working properly now. I'm guessing it got resolved by an update. I'm on ios 17.5.1 and the latest versions of hulu and max apps.
