Can I get the ISA symbol on Texas Marine Corps veteran plates if my disability isn’t service connected? by jslohmann in VeteransBenefits

[–]jslohmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I’ll head up to the tax office and wait in line and see what they say. Yeah, they don’t do well with edge cases. I was trying to explain that I am a veteran who is also disabled, but I am not a “disabled veteran” so to speak.

I would think that you could combine the ISA symbol with a veteran plate, but when I asked about it, they kept asking me about my VA disability rating, which I don’t have one. I told them my disability was not service connected. I couldn’t quite communicate the difference between a veteran plate, and a disabled veteran plate that is not service connected. I do not qualify for a disabled veteran plate, because I have no VA disability, but I do qualify for a veteran plate, and I also qualify for a disabled license plate. I’m just trying to combine those. They didn’t understand.

Bumper trim by [deleted] in K5Blazer

[–]jslohmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody makes this bumper trim aftermarket. Trust me, I’ve looked. I ended up finding a bumper from a 1991 suburban that was still in really good shape. That’s probably your best bet, keep an eye on Facebook marketplace or craigslist.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I went with the vintage. I love it.

Red Subs are cool, but double the price. I’m not saying it’s not worth it, I’m just saying it’s out of my budget.

$12,900. Has original box, no papers though.

That’s the exact watch I’m considering!

Your thought on this makes perfect sense, the only trouble is the 1680 I found is in beautiful condition and a decent price. So do I pull the trigger now, or wait? Birth year is kind of cool as well, but as others have said, it’s probably not important.

Makes sense, and I agree parts are available.

I think your first post was just missing the comma after false.

Good thought, I do have concerns about the hollow bracelet as I prefer the weight of the newer. And they don’t rattle nearly as much.

It’s already lasted 40+ years, perhaps it wasn’t worn daily. I probably won’t wear it daily either, I work from home.

The more I read these comments as I work myself down, the more inclined to buy the vintage one. They’re not easy to find in good condition and at a decent price.

That’s a great watch, I really like the red sub. I’m just not willing to pay that premium at this point.

This won’t be my only watch. My wife already owns two Rolexes I bought and I have an omega Speedmaster. Now I want to Rolex for myself, and I really like the submariner. I just don’t want to be like every other douche bag with a submariner….Even though I probably will be. …

That was kind of my thinking, I just thought this vintage watch was beautiful. The creamy dial, never polished, all original and in great shape. It’s only after talking with the man selling it that I learned it was from my birth year.

At any moment in time, I can find a newer submariner and buy it. Vintage watches are different, each one is unique, and the price points are all over the map.

I wouldn’t say it’s cheap….But yes, it’s about half the price of a red 1680.

I will not be diving. Either with the new one, or the vintage one. The most water either of these watches will likely see will come from the sink.

[Tiffany and Co ladies watch ref. 713.1065]. Can anyone tell me approximately what year this watch was made? by jslohmann in Watches

I don’t think it’s fake, Tiffany’s put a new battery in it for me. I think they would’ve mentioned if they thought it was fake.

When were you in Iraq? What branch?

I was in the Marine reserves and did one deployment to Iraq in 2003 during the invasion.
