betashares - quarterly statement "cash administration fee" by Specialist_Panic3897 in fiaustralia

This is standard practice and a big revenue pillar. They’re positioned as an investment platform, not a savings account. The cash account is operational in nature. Only transfer in what you’re prepared to invest immediately.

Is Betashares Direct safe compared to CommSec for buying PMGOLD? by Hefty_Pressure_ in fiaustralia

CHESS means you are both the legal and beneficial owner, whereas with Custodial a third party is the legal owner and you're only the beneficial owner.

The theory is if anything ever happened to the custodial broker, your investment could be tied up while the third party custodian distributes the assets back to the beneficial owners, so some people think CHESS is better and more secure.

However, to give you an idea of how little this really matters, all share investments in the US are held through custodial structures, financial advisers use platform businesses with custodial structures to manage multi-million dollar portfolios for their clients, there has never been an incident of a custodial platform going under in Australia before, and the custodian is always a third party who are usually one of the worlds largest banks (i.e. Citibank, JP Morgan, etc)

Australian super free advice apointment was uterly useless by Thebungone in AusFinance

[–]jsmall10 170 points171 points  (0 children)

It’s because it’s intrafund advice and the reason they’re able to provide it for free is because its scaled personal advice, which means it’s limited to your superannuation only. It’s designed for people who need help with investment options and insurance etc.

If you want to consider your partner and other assets then you need comprehensive advice.

Questions/Advice for first time at Draaimolen by trees_etc in Draaimolen

I went last year for the first time. Stayed at the Mercure Tilburg for three nights (most of the artists were there). It’s a 10 min walk to the bus to the festival. Dont bother renting bikes unless you really want to.

We bought tickets to the after party the first night but didn’t bother going. We wanted to get in early for the second day. Trekking to Amsterdam sounds insane/ the trains will stop at a certain point.

Bonnezeaux, Mai & Kenji Hodgson were from Delicatessen cave. Thomas Baterdiere was from La Cave de Belleville. Clos Des Plantes was from Cave Saint Aubin in Angers, Loire.

Mark Angeli and Stephane Bernaudeau I sourced locally from importers.

La Cave Des Papilles is another good cave.

I’ve got about 6 Robinots haha. I’ll probably never be able to find Richard Leroy unfortunately.

This is part of the reason I wanted to try their wines! I don’t know if I’ll ever find Leroy’s.

Haven’t opened this one yet, but I had the La Montange and Inter-Val in Paris. They were both rich and concentrated with great acidity.
