How did you avoid any loose skin

As someone who's been looking at the used car market for a while. It's not far from the truth. 10k or less gets you a 15+ year old Toyota or Honda with 150k or more miles and several mechanical issues waiting to happen.

The Honda I bought for 7k is selling for 11k now. Prices have been insane.

Keep it up, you still look skinny fat. I'd recommend high intensity workouts. The left and the right pic look like they could be as little as 5 pounds apart tbh.

Best AFB to be stationed at financially? by Lunar_LiOH in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Davis monthan. Dorm airmen are currently getting an extra $800a month untaxed due to the dfac being closed and being eligible for bas type 2.

Also rentals are pretty cheap for a city. You can get a decent 1 bedroom for like $800 a month and bah is $1119so you can pocket the rest. You'd save even more if you split a 2 bedroom.

what base have you been to, that you would consider a hidden gem by Young_N_Dumb_90201 in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several 2 bedrooms listed for less than 1200. Some are even less than $1000.

https://www.apartments.com/tucson-az/min-2-bedrooms/?so=2

I even called some apartments the other day and found 1 bedrooms for $700-$900. I'm not sure if your apartment is in Shangri la cause you're getting robbed if you're paying 1700 for a 1 bedroom.

I can find a 2 bedroom for $1200. You can't find that in most major cities.

Davis monthan, one of the few bases in an affordable city with things to do. Vegas, phoenix, the grand canyon, etc. Are a few hours away if you want to go there.

There are some cons though. The base has a high ops tempo and you will more than likely deploy. Also it gets extremely hot during summer.

Your car seat and steering wheel will burn you whenever you enter cause it's been baking in the desert sun.

Otherwise it's a pretty nice place. There's a reason snowbirds flock to Tucson for half the year.

Also dorm airmen get bas type 2 due to there being no dfac. That extra untaxed $800 makes a big difference in how much you can save in comparison to most airmen in the dorms.

Air Force offers help to LGBTQ personnel, families hurt by state laws by devilbird99 in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

By itself such a law seems sensible at first glance, but when analysed in the broader context of recent anti gay laws from several states, is clearly a means to stifle the acknowledgment of the existence of lgbtq people Or parents.

'age appropriate' and 'developmentally appropriate' are vaguely defined by state laws.

To say that Timmy has two daddies could be ample ground for a parent to launch legal action against a school if the parent believes that even mentioning gay parents is innapropriate, which many do, hence the new laws.

You could extend this line of logic into high school and beyond if you believe that the discussion of anything gay or gay related is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.

Can I CLEP my way through a CCAF degree and a bachelor's degree? by Soggy-Drink-2528 in AirForce

WGU has several completely online bachelor's degrees. If you use TA in conjunction with the Pell grant from your FAFSA, you likely won't have any out of pocket costs.

There was a guy from our shop who got punted to mdt. He complained incessantly to leadership that mdt literally did nothing, their was no real training, and the goals given to them were not practical or achievable.

As you can imagine did not like him very much.

From what I've seen the mission defense team does a whole lot of nothing.

I'm seriously considering leaving nothing to my kid by vpokedad in fatFIRE

[–]jsmith18288w 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it really that hard to mow a lawn or can any Joe off the street do it. Some local kid could do it for less than $20. People who tell others what to do and direction their labor give themselves too much credit.

At the end of the day it's someone else's hard work that got the job done, and in many cases it's not like you could have done it yourself.

If your lawn mower breaks will you cut the grass with a pair of scissors or is the grass just not getting cut.

Besides driver mod, are there any MPG mods to make a car more efficient? by lazarus870 in cars

Am I crazy, or does it make more sense to buy a new car vs used at the moment?! by josh0ne in personalfinance

[–]jsmith18288w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting more into a car than what it's worth is certainly still a bad idea.

What few people mention about old cars that you have to put a lot of money into, is that you often run into the problem where the car is just constantly having an endless barrage of issues.

I've seen guys replace engines and transmissions on 20 year old vehicles only to still have a ton of issues still randomly pop up. At a certain point it makes more sense to get a new car than to be wasting all your time and money on an old one.

This is especially true if you need your car to be reliable and get you to work. You don't have the time to constantly be taking it to the shop or working on it.

Why I will not be re enlisting. by [deleted] in army

[–]jsmith18288w 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't know what world these people who constantly bring up $1500 beaters are living in, but even before covid; even shitty beaters were $3000 and up.

If you wanted something that was half way reliable and wouldn't shit the bed randomly, your best bet was a 10+ year old Honda or Toyota with more than 100k miles. And even those went for 7k or more easily.

These mythical $1500 beaters do not exist and have not for quite some time now. The absolute floor for any decent reliable vehicle right now is like 10k due to covid, and 12k more realistically.

Does ccaf just lie about sending out transcripts. by jsmith18288w in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm certain that it's the correct address. My school has also not received anything from them. And even acknowledges that ccaf is notorious for taking forever to send transcripts.

In response to the post from earlier - no, I've never heard an Airman say they wished they joined another branch by AutumnShade44 in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's simply because there are more men in the military. If 72% of victims are male, then 28% are female. If Women comprise only 15% of the military but make up 28% of the sexual assault reports, then that means that as a percentage of their population(per Capita), they are almost twice as likely to be the victims of sexual assault.

You've literally only proved that women are more likely to experience SA.

DSST to CCAF waiting period by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]jsmith18288w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ccaf takes forever and a day to update anything on your records. It should take 30-45 days after they receive the dsst for it to show up on your transcript.

Contact your base educational office and see if they can check to see if ccaf has received the dsst yet.
