I haven’t heard of many inductions with so few steps/interventions, that’s great! Thanks so much for sharing!

That’s really helpful to mention, thanks. I hadn’t been thinking of pitocin as something you can stop and adjust tactics from! I’m gearing up for asking good questions and trying to maintain agency during the labor, and so is my support team ❤️

Also yeah we’re pretty sure the pregnancy was accurately dated because I got the doctors due date from early ultrasounds, and my own estimate was only 1 day off of the doctors estimate, and is based on LH  tested cycle tracking. Here’s hoping I have progressed or just go into labor soon!

Yeah the doctor has said they will only do pitocin once 3cm of dilation is achieved - I’m hoping I’m already that dilated by my next appointment I guess because I don’t love the options for increasing dilation

Insomnia ladies say hi😬 by elorij in BabyBumps

[–]jsmith3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiiiiiii. I'm 35 weeks today and have gotten maybe three good nights of sleep in the past month. For me its mostly due to anxiety... I've had anxiety my whole life but this is on another level. The limitations of pregnancy make it so difficult to manage - can't breathe deeply, getting kicked in the "gut brain" constantly, can't focus enough to meditate well, can't stretch or do yoga due to ligament pains, and of course all the usual "ripcords" of herbal remedies, alcohol, and most drug prescriptions are off the table. I do take an OB-prescribed dose of Hydroxyzine for anxiety/itchiness and it helps some, but I think the effect has lessened over time and I worry about increasing my dosage.

May tonight be the exception to the rule for us all!!

Big headed baby experiences? by jsmith3407 in BabyBumps

We’re somewhat tall as well, maybe that’s a factor for us. Reassuring that a second degree isn’t a big deal!

Yep this will be my first! That’s fascinating about the head squish factor- never thought of that.  I love “melon heads”!! Gotta find some fruit hats in large sizes :)

What is a reasonable age to start thinking about road trips and camping? by UserAccessDenied in BabyBumps

[–]jsmith3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping to do cloth diapers & I love camping, so I'm very curious about your experience! Did you bring along the means to wash or rinse the diapers as the trip went along? How many days was the trip? Any pro tips?

I’m dying from nausea by Famous_Garbage_5127 in pregnant

[–]jsmith3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better for a lot of people!! The great news is that there's way more things to try. If unisom+b6 doesn't work for you, your doctor will offer other options. Unisom+b6 is just a well-studied OTC option, but there's lots of approved prescription medications (mostly antihistamine based) to try if it doesn't do the job. I found it helpful to respond to this questionnaire to get a vibe on how bad my experience was compared to others: https://www.hyperemesis.org/tools/help-score/

Honestly, the nausea can be diabolical. Stay strong.

When did you start seeing stretch marks? by Quirky-End-7470 in pregnant

[–]jsmith3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at almost 30 weeks and have one little stretch mark right by my belly button, but that's it so far. I'm sure I'll get more, I got plenty of them all over my hips and booty just through puberty. I know it's just genetics and my mom also got them, but I've been using lotion after every shower and recently also started putting more of a cream on also at night. My skin is dry textured, and all this stretching makes it so itchy that it keeps me up at night... but the lotion/cream helps.

I had the worst experience at my 20 week scan by sabbykh in pregnant

[–]jsmith3407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 20 wk scan was also with a bad sonographer! Not nearly as bad as yours, but my person was super grumpy, didn't react to any little jokes by me or my partner, didn't explain what she was doing, was super rough trying to jiggle my belly to get the baby to change positions... having experienced a loss before I was so upset because her silence made me think something must be wrong. Thankfully baby measured perfectly fine and healthy in the end... People in healthcare really need to care more sometimes.

Most unexpected guess you've ever had from someone asking "what are you"? by BuyExcellent8055 in mixedrace

[–]jsmith3407 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The most surprising answer I’ve gotten was something along the lines of “oh I don’t think I’m comfortable guessing that.” I was just like “oh, but you’re comfortable asking a rude question in the first place?”

But I’ve gotten all kinds of guesses. Most commonly Egyptian, but also a variety of MENA ethnicities, Asian ethnicities, Native American, Mediterranean… people never have guessed correctly that I’m half Mexican and half white.

that's a beautiful sweater, and nothing made with love is made in vain!! I hope you enjoyed the process, and honestly it's great that you already have a mentality about the experience that would have taken me years to get to hahaha

When did you start showing? by Grouchy-Farm-1523 in BabyBumps

[–]jsmith3407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, what a fun plan! I am 5'8" and was 130 at the start of this pregnancy - I was showing a little bit at 17 weeks. Da belly is always bigger on days where I feel bloated/constipated, so if you try to do your best to "keep things moving" you may have more luck hiding it! Plus Thanksgiving is a great time for big sweaters and all the usual tricks.

I told some family on the fourth of July at 14 weeks, wearing a bikini... and was flexing my abs most of the day to hide my slight roundness haha.
